Making Your Adoption Plan
Sometimes, life has a funny way of taking us places we never intended to go.
If you’re thinking of making adoption plans, you probably already know that.
Whether you’re facing an unplanned pregnancy or looking for a good family to adopt your toddler, whether you’re hiding a pregnancy or you’ve already given birth or you’re wondering “should I give up my baby for adoption?” you can call Abrazo right now, whatever time it is, and get all the help you need: 210-342-5683. Or submit our Confidential Inquiry form online. Or text “help me” to 210-860-5683 and we will. Day or night.
We’ll help you explore your adoption options and give you honest answers to your questions. Abrazo offers free adoption help for any parents considering placement. (Just ask to speak with Rachel, our birth mother coordinator who also works with expectant parents, or with Elizabeth or Ximena, who are counselors.)
Adoption isn’t your only choice, of course. You’ll want to consider all your pregnancy options and parenting resources to be sure. (If you don’t want to place, there are other resources like San Antonio’s Pregnancy Care Center or the national groups Covenant House or Saving Our Sisters that can help you plan for parenting.) But for those who want to choose life over abortion, who aren’t ready for parenting and don’t see welfare, WIC, shelters, foster care or relative placement as better alternatives, Abrazo’s adoption choices offer a better solution for all concerned; birthparents, adoptive parents, but most of all, baby. What Can Abrazo Do To Help?
Making adoption plans is the easier part. And Abrazo is happy to help you.
If you need financial assistance with maternity expenses (housing, transportation, food, clothing, medical care or other pregnancy-related essentials), Texas laws enable Abrazo to help, before and after birth, in cases of documented need (void where prohibited).
For starters, you need to know that Texas moms who are placing can’t make any legal commitment to adoption until 48 hours after the child’s birth (at least). That’s important to know. You don’t have to appear in court, either-– Abrazo will go in your place.
And if you need to make adoption plans for a baby, toddler or child that’s already born or whom you’ve already been parenting, that’s no problem; Abrazo has loving homes ready and waiting right now.
Texas laws currently don’t require the consent of an unmarried/alleged father who hasn’t legally established paternity and provided support. Yet we believe responsible fathers deserve to be included, so if a baby’s father does want to be involved in an open adoption plan, we welcome his participation. (Click here for Prospective Birthfather Info).
Abrazo also offers private counseling, adoption education, a birthparent support group and professional referrals to help you find your own best answers. Have other children or family members who may be affected? They’re welcome, too, if you want them involved. Want to talk with other birthmoms who’ve “been there, done this?” We’ll gladly put you in touch.
And if you choose not to complete an adoption plan, that’s your right, and you owe nothing but an honest answer. Because ultimately, only you can decide what is best for you and your baby.
