Suzi, Thanks for taking the time to answer questions about your faith. I found your post(s) very interesting. I just wanted to point out that King James did not bring together/compile the books of the Bible. He was the one who had it translated into English in 1611. You may not have meant that King James was the one who brought together writings as Morman did for the Morman Bible, but the way I read your post, it could have been taken that way. I didn't want there to be any confusion. Thanks for letting me clarify. Now back to the topic at hand... Thanks Suebee. I meant to compare that my copy of the Bible has King James name on the cover. i failed to note that his role was different. To us the Book of Mormon is not a "Mormon Bible". It's another testament of Christ, it's scripture but not the Bible or a Bible. We use the Bible. I'm reading from the Old Testament these days about King Solomon building the temple. Not sure if others feel different but it's one nickname I can't quite embrace. I definitely see the distinction between saying Book of Mormon and Mormon Bible...thanks for pointing that out.

I've thought of a few other things to get you going: Begin thinking about who you want to write letters of recommendation for you and hubby Ask your doctor for a letter stating your diagnosis of infertility Talk with your spouse/research what you are open to as far as race, age of child, special needs, etc. Those questions will be on the application. Write a rough draft of your profile letter...the letter that potential birth parents will read...and gather photos of you and your spouse that give a glimpse of who you are/your lives. Think about/work out financing your adoption Get recommendations/interview agencies/social workers to do your homestudy Get ready for a wild but wonderful ride!

Congratulations!! Adding prayers of healing for this brave first momma!

For the adoption process, we went for orientation, a visit to meet our son's birthmom prior to birth, at birth/placement, and then for finalization. Now we visit each other because we're family.

I talked with a couple recently, but they already have a son. If I hear of anyone...I'll definitely send them your way!

Congratulations to the newest family! And continued prayers for this tiny babe and her wonderful first family.

What I was trying to do was edit my original post to add the Bible references. Somehow I quoted instead! Oh well... Eileen, My family would tell you I'm far from awesome...but adoption/open adoption has definitely helped me become a better person!

I feel like my Christian faith has helped me with open adoption, and my sincere hope is that Jesus would say, "Well done." Because of my faith and following the teachings of Christ... I try to treat others the way I would want to be treated. I try to consider another's needs more important than my own. I can turn the other cheek if necessary (with God's help!). I can weep with those who weep. I'm learning to judge not, lest I be judged. I believe that love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. As far as it being confusing for the child...that is simply not true. Children are very smart and perceptive. Joshua is almost 8 but he definitely gets it! He loves having more people in his life to love him!

You are still a Bald Tire, and from what I've observed you are a very important part of that group as you have been a huge supporter, encourager, and cheerleader in spite of your own disappointments. Great news about your CAT scan being clear! We'll rejoice with you when treatments are over, and pray that 2009 brings you all that your heart desires! Susan
