  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Enjoy your little pink bundle of joy.
  2. I would have to agree with Elizabeth on all the above. In our situation, we did not have to option of family visiting as we live in the State of Ohio, but if we had, we would have declined the opportunity. During the first few days, you as adoptive parents and your birthmother go through so many emotions. It is a special time for just your immediate family to spend time with your birthmother in my opinion. Your extended family can be there for you when you return home or are waiting for Interstate Compact to be completed (if you live outside of Texas). Just my thoughts....
  3. Sabrina, don't leave us. We all have bad days. Please stay with the Forum. We would miss you terribly.
  4. Hi everyone, our family did receive two grants for our second adoption. Here is a weblink regarding adoption grant programs. http://www.angelfire.com/journal/adoptionh...elp.html#GRANTS You really have to do your homework, but believe me, it is truly worth the time and effort. If you want more specific information, PM me and I will be happy to answer questions. One more thought, when requesting applications, ask up front if the adoption grant program supports domestic/international adoptions. Some only support international adoption programs, but I do know that Feng LiLi and Gift of Adoption do sponser both. Kim Mathews
  5. Go to this weblink to check out a reputable Christian organization that is giving 100% of donations to hurricane victims. This organization gives food. http://www.feedthechildren.org/site/PageSe...rricane_katrina
  6. Congratulations!!!!! We will all be anxious to see the pics. Take care and enjoy the Texas weather.
  7. We heard of ABRAZO through the magazine Adoptive Families. Wait time was just under 9 months for our newborn daughter, soon to be 9 yrs. old. Our son was born in South Korea. He turned 6 yrs. old earlier this year. Where does the time go????
  8. We also received a grant from God's Grace Adoption Ministry. Just thought I'd share that this organization does come through for families also.
  9. We did receive a grant from the gift of adoption fund for our son's adoption. It really does work and it made the difference in financially affording the adoption plan. So if anyone wants to know more details, please PM me and I will answer.
  10. You might want to try these agencies that help families by giving you funds in the manner of Grants. Below I have linked the websites. We received help from both of these and have found them to be very reliable agencies to use. There is no "payback" on these grants. www.jsw-adoption.org www.ggam.org You might want to check into this one also. I don't know anyone who has received funds from them, but as I always say, it doesn't hurt to look into possibilities. www.homestead.com/brightfutures If I can be of further assistance, just email. Have a great day. Kim
