If it were up to my dad, he would want us to wait until our child turned 18 But, it's not up to him Cathy Hey Cathy, Some times parents don't understand the whole openess thing, one of the best things that happened to us was we brought my parents to Camp Abrazo, after that weekend they finally said they got it. (My brother has also adopted through Abrazo), they said it was nice to talk to the Abrazo staff and other parents may it be adoptive or birthparents it really didn't matter. They learned so much that weekend, they saw a match in the making and the emotions that were involved with the match. They saw the Abrazo family come together as one big family. Paula

Thank you very much!! Adoptions that are truly "open" don't wait for "one day", later on, to tell children the truth of their beginnings, and there's no time like the present to get your kids acquainted with their relatives. This is why Abrazo's placement agreement requires the families we place with to begin telling the adoption story to the babies we place with them right from the start; so there's never a day nor a time when that child can remember not knowing!!! Openness is about honesty, and either you IS or you ISN'T. We have a picture on McKenna's dresser of her birthparents, we show it to her everyday. It is so important for her to know about all the families that truly love her!

We would like to thank everyone for their love and support. It truly is amazing, when we started our adoption process we knew some day we would add a child to our family, but we also added the Abrazo community to our family. Thanks for your love and support! Paula, Scott and McKenna

Ventura family of FOUR!!! What a beatiful family!! It was so exciting to meet the 4 of you this weekend!!! Congratulations!!!!

Eduardo was a wonderful man, he was very loving and caring man. We met Eduardo and Anna briefly but we could see the spirit that he had, he has passed on that same spirit to our daughter McKenna. It was fate on Thursday that we were flying in for camp, we were able to go to the visitation and pay our respects for the last time. We were welcomed to Eduardo's family with open arms, most didn't even know about McKenna. We were able to hear some stories about a man that we really don't know, hopefully we will be able to hear more about Eduardo from his family in the future. It was wonderful to spend time with Mama Anna that night, it was a very emotional time for all, but it was nice to sit and talk with her and share so things with her. She loved holding McKenna (as much as she possibly could, she's just like Mama Anna, cant sit still). Eduardo is now in safe, may he rest in peace. Love you Eduardo and we will take care of our little girl. Paula and Scott
