  1. What makes the holidays twice as nice? Sweet little faces like those pictured in the gallery!
  2. Welcome! Welcome!
  3. In an update to the story Elizabeth posted here, Amanda Davis can be found here (may require a myspace account to access). It appears Amanda, 22, is now pregnant with her seventh child, another boy, having birthed two more boys following the quads. Married now to man who is not the father of her first five children, they have one son together and are undoubtedly busy, with a family of nearly nine!
  4. Great dialogue here. I just came off a great adoptive parent inquiry with a family who was very open racially, had adoption in their family, had previously adopted a child, was local to San Antonio, but are in no way willing to consider open adoption. Her brother's adoption was closed, her daughter's adoption is closed, and they just aren't open to considering openness. In fact, she wasn't even open to discussing it with me; as soon as she heard we wouldn't agree to do a closed adoption on their terms, she said goodbye and hung up. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this mentality anymore. But I am, every time. I'm so thankful for this forum community, doing what they can to spread the word about openness!
  5. From a reputable news source, an interview with Zahara Jolie-Pitt's birth mother who describes the heart-breaking circumstances that led to the placement of her daughter Read story here I hope, naively I'm sure, that Angelina and Brad might reward that sort of committment to their daughter's future with an open relationship this sweet young girl deserves.
  6. I read this yesterday too. If Paris plans to adopt I've got four little blondes for her.... McKayla Allysen Chloe and she comes with her adoption papers already! Kathy
  7. Many congrats to Anthony and Linda and Rich and Kristen! I'm so happy for the new families!
  8. I would like to say a prayer of thanks as I arrived home in one piece tonight. As I drove home I was nearly side swiped by young woman anxious to get to Jack in a Box. As she whipped through the turnaround and then tried to cut over four lanes to make the entrance, she did not see me right beside and slightly behind her. As tired as I was, it was only by the grace of God that I responded quick enough to slam on my brakes, swerve my car, fly up on the right turn median and screech to a stop. At one point we were close enough I could see what radio station she was tuned into through her window. Our cars never touched but I think my heart is still in my throat.
  9. No affiliation posted on mine. I have to hope it was a glitch though because if you read some of the other comments they border on obscene to absolutely bizzare........
  10. You know, on a link I followed to E! network news it allows you to post a comment, so I did. I responded to those wondering 1) how'd she get a baby in the US and 2) how'd she get one so fast. I pointed out that 1) there ARE babies in the US contrary to what the media would like to believe 2.a) a lot of agencies encourage birthmothers to chose the family so "waiting lists" aren't always determinate in who takes placement when and 2.b ) she most likely used a lawyer/broker and paid well for her expedited services. My comment disappeared an hour later.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  11. Angelina brings home a toddler......New Son Pax Since her previous adoptions have been that of infants I can't help but hope that she is educated and prepared for bringing home a three year old who will now be living in a world very unlike the one he came from.
  12. Great photo Pamela! Congrats to the newest family!
  13. that is absolutely beautiful Lisa, thank you.
  14. I wrote my senior term paper in college on transracial adoptions and after months of researching and reading nearly every signifigant study done on the topic the general consensus was that children adopted transracially were just as well-adjusted as their non-transracially adopted peers. And obviously better adjusted than children who languished in the foster care system because they were unable to be placed. There was only one study with contradictory findings but it was later argued that it was flawed and thus does not hold merit. It was so interesting for me becuase you so often hear people say they can't or won't adopt trasracially because it would be yoo hard on the child. And the evidence shows it's not hard on the children but perhaps too hard for the adults. If we teach this generation to be more accepting and tolerant maybe we won't have to have this conversation in years to come. Sabrina, your poem is beautiful.
  15. Congrats Brian and Gail! Ainsley can't wait to meet her new playmate! Natalie Grace is beautiful!
  16. Madonna's sons birthfather is asking for more information as to how his son is doing..... News Story
  17. You know everytime I see or read an interview with Trista and Ryan (the Bacchelorette and her suitor) she talks about how badly they want to be parents. Now they haven't mentioned adoption yet that I know of but you think if they went for it ABC would make a reality show special out of it????
  18. Congrats Chris, Gabriela and big brother!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy to hear of your match and so excited for you and your birthfamily! Welcome to the world baby girl!
  19. Thank you Claudia for posting the photo! I went ahead and got it into New Arrivals. It so wonderful to see the new family!

    Baby Dulce Elise

    Welcome home baby girl!
  21. I fully agree with the sentiments expressed here about how people believe adoption is "saving" a child. When people hear where I work I often get the response, "isn't so great there are people willing to adopt?" My response, "Certainly, and it's even better there are birthparents willing to selflesslessly place their children for adoption when they find themselves unable to parent."
  22. The newest family can be found in the gallery! Congratulations!
