  1. Very, very happy - congratulations Brent and Lynn, definitely worth the wait.
  2. I don't have a strong opinion about fundraising, but the one thing that bugs me about adoption financing and adds to the expense of it is the maternity policies of many companies, who classify maternity leave as a "medical condition of a woman who physically gave birth". If you adopt, you don't qualify so you must take unpaid leave to care for a newborn child. My company, and Jocelyn's company, both large employers on a national scale, have this policy.
  3. So my new year's resolution should be that when I have a question about something I should ask my wife first...
  4. Does anyone know if maternity expenses paid for a failed match are deductible? Or would this be included in the fees that are applied toward the adoption credit after the next finalization? Just wondering since we incurred the maternity expenses in 2012 and won't have a finalization until 2013 at the soonest. I put a call into my CPA but haven't heard back yet - wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Thanks!
  5. I ended up having to go back in to the doctor after my homestudy physical to get more blood work and tests done that the Abrazo medical form required but the homestudy physical didn't. So yes, check with Abrazo first!
