  1. That is great! We are still dealing with ours but you have given us hope!
  2. My 18 year old cousin passed because of this horrible disease. She fought so hard and my Aunt And my Unlce did on her behalf, too. They lived with us for a couple of months while she was being treated at MD Anderson and she went through it all with Grace. My heart goes out to all of his parents.
  3. What a wonderful report and a nice Valentine's gift! I hope y'all have a great weekend.
  4. Susan, Thank you for sharing. I'm 12 years older than my sister, so I'm very protective of her. She was my shadow growing up and I love her so, so much. Her and her husband have been married for 3 years and love one another dearly. They were so supportive of our journey to Alexander and I know that their hearts are very open to adoption. I think because they officially received their diagnosis of unexplained infertiliy last week, they are at a loss. They are only 27. That is wonderful about y'all both being families of 4! I hope you don't mind if I share this story with my sister. I know it will help give her hope. Leah x
  5. Congrats on becoming a family of 4! Prayers to all of the families involved.
  6. Jen, Your post is lovely. I could not agree more. Kevin and I went to a benefit for a charity we support in the Houston area last night. Listening to some of the testimonials made me realize that God, really truly is everywhere. We just might not realize it at the time. I was in awe listening to Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife, Mary Beth, speak of their journey in faith. I struggle with my faith at times. I think most people do. As my younger sister is battling infertility, I have to believe that there will be a answer to her and her husband's prayers. Whether it is through adoption, IUI or IVF. I was asking Kevin why she is having to go through what we went through and he said he does not know, but who are we to question. He said her road might have some twists and turns but the road her and her husband are on is worth traveling. We were placed with Alexander almost 16 months ago and I can honestly say there is not a day goes by that I do not think about M-I and the love she has for Alexander. We hope to hear from her again one day. She is missed.
  7. What a beautiful quote! Congrats to the newest family of 4!
  8. Congratulations Scott, Jocelyn, and Landon! Welcome Micah!!
  9. Mari, Yes, we did have a lovely time at the Wedding and the Christmas party. I was so happy that my friend got married. She was single for a very long time and she met a wonderful man last year and they fell in love. He seems like a great guy. She is in her late 50s and he is in his earl 60s. I think they plan on both retiring soon and will be doing a lot fo traveling. The Christmas party was very nice. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the band. My Mom has always told me that I need to sit still and listen to what I need to be hearing. She told me that before we started our adoption journey and she told me that recently concerning some career opportunities. I just need to have patience. It's hard for me but I'm working on it. I like your comment about the Heart to Heart conversations. As I had one of those yesterday I think I'm going to follow your lead and do gift cards for my brothers. It is always so hard to buy for them. I hope Lauranda's final went well today!
  10. I hope Lauranda does well on her exam. We have a wedding to attend today, Kevin's work Christmas party tonight and we will be moving the rest of our small household ties tomorrow into the new house. So our weekend will be very busy. I just wanted to tell you thank you for your post on Friday. It is a reminder that I need to be open to some wonderful possibilities in 2013, if I will just be willing to have a patience and listen.
  11. Congrats to the newest family of 3!!!
  12. Mari- Thanks. My day did get a better, especially when I saw my pumpkin at 4:30. We decided to not move anything into the new house tonight. We went out out to dinner and then just spent time together. Alexander, Kevin and I danced again this evening. My husband and my son make me laugh constantly. Alexander has learned how to walk in circles while clapping his hands to the music. He cracks me up so much! I just want to say Thanks for all of your words of wisdom. The comments that you made on Adria and Mark's thread were so poignant.
  13. Mari- Thanks for posting those quotes. I really needed to read them today.
  14. Welcome baby Xavier-what a cool name!
  15. I think finding someone that has gone through it, that you can speak with is a wonderful way to start learning about adoption. We are very Thankful for Monica and Gary Rasmussen for their support for when we officially decided to start our adoption journey. Also, we are very fortunate that we have a ministry dedicated to adoption at our church. We went through a program called Adoption Discovery there in early 2011 and it was a great way to learn about adoption.
  16. Beth, Thanks! Now, if we can just receive the letter stating what they need prior to us moving next month, that would be wonderful!
  17. Thanks for the quick responses, y'all! We spoke with the accountant a few times but he said since I had done all of the work, that I should just send it in. He said it all looked in order and he did not charge us, so I thought that was nice. But now, I think maybe I should have let him file it. Oh, well. We have several copies of all our documentation so I hope their request is minimal and they can process the rest of our claim soon. But this year, with us buying a new house this past Tuesday, I'm definitely going to use the CPA. Melissa-I hope y'alls stuff get sorted soon, too!
  18. Ok, We received the small amount we would have received back without the credit. The Adoption Tax credit is currently under review and we should receive a letter soon requesting additional information. I sent them all of the required information and receipts. So lets hope they are favorable in their review and we will not have to resend everything!
  19. Hi- Did anyone get a partial refund after filing and then received the rest? We received a little bit of a refund in our account this morning from the IRS but I have not idea why. It's no where near the amount we should we receive back according to our filing. We have not received a letter or anything saying our file is under reeview. I mailed them off October 5th (I used the tax extension this year). Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks
