  1. Welcome LoveFaithHope!

We were referred to Abrazo by our social worker here in Memphis. We knew we wanted openness in our adoption, but we were a bit aprehensive about open adoption at first. Working with Abrazo has taught us so much and now we feel that there really is no other healthy way to approach adoption than total openness.

The team of ladies in the office are very dedicated and seem to view what they do as more of a calling or a lifestyle than as a job. There is a wealth of knoweledge there, as well. Each person in the office knows us all by name and knows our situations. They are a great support system.

We have also come into a tremendous community of adoptive families through the forum, camp Abrazo, our own state reunions, and our monthly lunches here in Memphis. I love the fact that our daughter will have many adopted friends to grow up with.

Good luck with your decision. I hope this helps.

  2. I agree that she could have been misquoted. However, it strikes me as interesting that if she was misquoted she did not do more to "set the record straight." After all, she and Tom sued for what I would consider much smaller infractions. But perhaps that was Tom's nature- not hers.

I guess sometimes I am just amazed at what adoptive parents say overall. It has been my experence that those who are ignorant to the adoption process are not the only ones to make statements about "real children" and the like.

    Good point

  3. She is a teen-ager. I have to say that I was appalled Monday when I was in the doctor's office. I found a reference to a Vanity Fair article in which Nichole apparently was talking about how much she had wanted to "have a baby" when she was married to Tom. She reported that they had two very painful miscarriages. SHe reported that she is now trying to have a baby with Keith- and this was the kicker. She said that she did not believe that she would feel complete unless she was able to have a baby.

They have been so private about their children for so many years- of all things to declare to the world when you decide to stop being private! I feel so sad for how the kids must have felt when they read that.... over and over again.

While I think this is terrible-- I also see the possibility that she was misquote for sensational effect. In either case, I feel badly for her children!

  4. I love this topic! So important in this day and age.

I am always reminded of the high school senior who was failing my class miserably (like 35%), whom later I saw speed by me in the parking lot driving a red, two seater BMW. And I thought, of course :(

This story about alternative gifts was on the home page of MSN today:

I have done class projects for Heifer in the past and last year our junior class spent the night at Heifer Ranch in Arkansas-- where they lived as they do in less developed nations-- no food, shelter, etc... They described it as the worst experience of thier lives and could not imagine living like that.

  5. WOW! Prayers for and congratulations to the newest family. I hope this is who I think it is!!!!:lol: And if so, the offer still stands .... we have lots of girl things to share! ;) And of course girls can wear blue --- HUGS!!!!!! What a wonderful Thanksgiving blessing.

And of course you have the best taste in baby girl clothing Majorie!

Thank you everyone for your warm congratulations!

We have been through a whirl wind of emotions in the past 24 hours. It started with broken hearts from a match that was so good falling through and ended with joyous hearts as we signed the papers for our daughter Cecilia Colleen.

Our prayers go out to all those feeling loss tonight-- may God bring you peace and a happy ending!
