    i can only imagine that most of these posts have already answered your question...it really depends on the situation :) i do not have too much to add except "Welcome" We are from West Chester, PA and love hearing about local people finding Abrazo!!!!     Bumping this up for Kristin. Go back and look toward the front of this thread and it list sites that give info about grants. :)

    Chilemom would be a great person to PM about grants. She has received several of them. I plan to apply for several the next time around.

    Thanks! I actually did apply for one online just yesterday! There were two others that I "found" but you have to have a completed homestudy. I will definitely jump on that when we are finished ours. Kristin :)

    Nichole & Joe, welcome welcome welcome!!! I REALLY hope that it works out and we will both be attending the next orientation! Elizabeth is correct, working on all of those things will give you a head start on the application and the rest of it is fairly uncomplicated to fill out. We had our's done in about 2 days and then just had to put everything together so it took a bit longer. Best of luck!!! Kristin :)

    Hmm... Kristin, is your homestudy worker affiliated with a licensed agency? If not, perhaps that's the problem...?

    I do not think that that is the issue. She said that they are only legally allowed to request the checks for international adoptions. I think that I may have solved the problem. I read further on the site and I think that Rich and I can request one for ourselves and send it to Abrazo.

    I HOPE we are in San Antonio at the end of the month...it sounds like that is not a very strong possibility if others do not get their stuff in... oh well. I had a question about fingerprinting...the website says that "your operation must first go to the DFPS website to request an online background check" is "our operation" Abrazo? I thought that our home study agency would initiate this for us but they said "no". Any help would be appreciated :) Oh and BTW there is NOTHING WRONG with liking the forum a really whole lot :rolleyes:

    We had our first home study visit last night and it went really well! Our next visit is set up for Jan 19th and it will be the one at our house! So much paperwork! I have to say, it feels very good to have the profile done early :) Things are really moving along! Kristin

    By the way...any word on the next orientation? :unsure:

    Guess what?!?!? Our application and profile are done and we are mailing them tomorrow (well, FedEx-ing them since it's a national day of mourning for Ford)...either way... And our friends emailed us a copy of the letter of reference that they wrote for us and it is AMAZING! I am so lucky to have friends like them :) This has been an wonderful (but extremely busy) weekend and a fantastic beginning to 2007! We cannot believe how fast everything is moving! How exciting!!!!!!!! Best of luck in 2007 to everyone in our new Abrazo family :) Kristin

    Thanks for the responses...I was also wondering...do we HAVE to write it or can we type our profile input? I just feel like we have so much to say and have so many pictures that we could "squeeze it all in" if it was typed. I know that it will look really formal though...AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!

    I typed ours.

    I used WORD. Typed the paragraphs, cut them apart & mounted them on color paper so they stood out & went w/ each section.

    Make sense.......clear as mud right??

    Ok so, we got an email asking us to send our profile in ASAP. I was sorta looking forward to orientation to brainstorm on that one. I have found a little bit of info on the forum, but none that really put me at ease...any suggestions? Rich and I are going to work on it this weekend. Thanks :)

    Thanks everyone! Our application is complete and we are FedExing it this week! I have gathered up a whole bunch of pics for our profile and our first homestudy visit is Wednesday! You forumites were SO right about how fast everything moves!!!! Thanks for all of the support! Kristin :)

    Just got my packet from Abrazo, welcoming us to the process! I am SO excited!!!! Called Rich at work immediately and the goosebumps have not subsided yet!!! Pretty sure that I am going to have trouble falling asleep tonight :) Thank you all for your support in my wait to hear back. So, are we officially "PIWs" or do we have to send in our full application packet for that? Either way, I am sure I'll be posting somewhere!!!!!!!!!! Kristin :)

    Well, our check was cashed on Tuesday. I am taking that as sign that things are moving along in TX. I have spent the past week looking at pics and trying to "plan" our profile. Rich is upset, he thinks he looks "like a nerd" in the pictures. I think he look great! I have found him, at least twice, staring at the pictures. After asking him numerous times, why he keeps looking at them, he finally replied, "I am trying to pretend that I do not know us and figure out if I would like us." He's so cute! He's a lawyer, so he's very analytical and looks at everything from all sides. This is going to be a very interesting ride!!! Kristin :)

    AWESOME!!! Sorry, we are just so excited! I am sure that you are really busy, especially with just having orientation and with the holidays coming up quickly (especially being short-staffed, I know how that stinks!)
