This is the email I just got from our social worker: Hi, Kristin. I am very happy to hear from you and glad we can help you with your adoption plans again! I pulled your file and it looks like your first home study was approved in March 2010. PA home studies can only be updated for 3 years from the approval date, and then you need to do a whole new one and not just an update. Because we have a file for you we can do that in just 1 visit to your home, and we can drop the fee from $1500 to $850 (plus mileage for the home visit - we are now located just outside of Coatesville). That sounds crazy to me!!!!! What do you think?

i can only imagine that most of these posts have already answered your question...it really depends on the situation i do not have too much to add except "Welcome" We are from West Chester, PA and love hearing about local people finding Abrazo!!!! I keep checking this thread and updating Rich on it as well. It brings back special memories for us as this thread was how we first found out about Alex in June We hope that this situation turns out as well as ours did!

Thanks! I actually did apply for one online just yesterday! There were two others that I "found" but you have to have a completed homestudy. I will definitely jump on that when we are finished ours. Kristin

Nichole & Joe, welcome welcome welcome!!! I REALLY hope that it works out and we will both be attending the next orientation! Elizabeth is correct, working on all of those things will give you a head start on the application and the rest of it is fairly uncomplicated to fill out. We had our's done in about 2 days and then just had to put everything together so it took a bit longer. Best of luck!!! Kristin

I do not think that that is the issue. She said that they are only legally allowed to request the checks for international adoptions. I think that I may have solved the problem. I read further on the site and I think that Rich and I can request one for ourselves and send it to Abrazo.

I HOPE we are in San Antonio at the end of the month...it sounds like that is not a very strong possibility if others do not get their stuff in... oh well. I had a question about fingerprinting...the website says that "your operation must first go to the DFPS website to request an online background check" is "our operation" Abrazo? I thought that our home study agency would initiate this for us but they said "no". Any help would be appreciated Oh and BTW there is NOTHING WRONG with liking the forum a really whole lot

We had our first home study visit last night and it went really well! Our next visit is set up for Jan 19th and it will be the one at our house! So much paperwork! I have to say, it feels very good to have the profile done early Things are really moving along! Kristin By the way...any word on the next orientation?

Guess what?!?!? Our application and profile are done and we are mailing them tomorrow (well, FedEx-ing them since it's a national day of mourning for Ford)...either way... And our friends emailed us a copy of the letter of reference that they wrote for us and it is AMAZING! I am so lucky to have friends like them This has been an wonderful (but extremely busy) weekend and a fantastic beginning to 2007! We cannot believe how fast everything is moving! I typed ours. I used WORD. Typed the paragraphs, cut them apart & mounted them on color paper so they stood out & went w/ each section. Make sense.......clear as mud right?? OOOOOOOOOOOOHHH...interesting. I would LOVE to type it Thanks!

Thanks for the responses...I was also wondering...do we HAVE to write it or can we type our profile input? I just feel like we have so much to say and have so many pictures that we could "squeeze it all in" if it was typed. I know that it will look really formal though...AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!
