  1. Jumping in on Lisa's post...(Hi Lisa! :D )

Char, in Michigan, right? Was the quote including post placements? That is really high if not! I'm not sure where in MI you are but I would love to recommend our homestudy agency. They were reasonably priced but more importantly, very kind and did a great job. Bonus: they have done homestudies for other Abrazo familes ;) so they know what they are doing as far as requirements! PM me if you need their info.

    Good Luck!

  2. Thanks Guys!! That's why I am stuck on this agency...everyone is so warm and informative. It's very comforting!

We just had our individual interviews for our homestudy and our 1st home visit is a week and a half away. I'm getting more and more nervous that we won't be accepted to Abrazo for some reason, although, considering our flexibility and circumstances, I think we have a good chance. This is the first time in my life I've let myself shop for baby stuff and I'm getting overwhelmed!! Did you guys start shopping this early???

We are working on the financial part....doing lots of extra work to put back for expenses and I'm researching loans with good interest rates. There is a myriad of them out there, most of which charge to apply for them, so I'm reluctant to right now. Any suggestions there would be appreciated, although I've already found out a lot reading in that forum.

I'm also beginning to look for some type of adoption group we can join. Guess you can never have too much information on this subject. These forums are great!

Look forward to talking with you all more in the months to come!!!

Hey guys! I'm going to but in...hope that's okay! :D

Amanda, there are three Abrazo families from Shreveport in the July orienation group And Then...There Were Ten. I have personal information that they are all REALLY great people! Between the four of you guys, you could have your own adoption support group!

There is a really neat lady around here somewhere named Gigi. She had and 'Adoption garage sale'. It was a HUGE and I mean a HUGE success! Family, friends, co-workers, friends of friends, people she didn't even know, donated items of all kinds, a massage therapist donated gift certificates to sell, they sold bottled water and hot dogs. The possibilities are endless! I thought it was a great idea, I just never had a chance to put that together!

Congrats on getting busy with the homestudy and let me tell you...it's never to early to shop! :)

    Welcome to the forum!!!

    (Hello Ellouise! ;) )

  3. Our deepest heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our forum family for your prayers and well wishes!

    We are overjoyed!

Clara is God's greatest miracle in our lives and we are greatful every minute!

She is peeking up at me right now..."Mommy, when can I post on the forum?" "Not just yet little one, but soon enough I'm sure!"

We continue to pray for our dear birth family and keep them close to our hearts.

    With Love and Gratitude,

    Andrea, Don and CLARA!

  4. Geritol?

    Eat more peas???

I would love to know how that's supposed to work!!! We never tried either of those...........

I wanted to echos everyone's sentiments and add....

We met with our insurance agent this past weekend. He knows we are adopting. That is why we were meeting with him-to find out about infant coverage. He just had a baby two weeks ago. Congratulations! That's wonderful! We were happy for him; but he kept complaining about how he "hates it when they're babies"; His exact words. "They don't do anything and are no fun until 6 months or so. I hate the puking and diapers and they just lay around. They spit up on you, it's awful. Really you don't want to deal with any of that."

    Ahem.

Don and I kept looking at eachother and biting our tongues. If he had said it once; okay, whatever. But he kept going on about it. Don shut him up when he said how he looks forward to up all nights and would be grateful and thrilled to have a little spit up on his shirt. :)

    People don't think................

  5. Mary...

I think it may have been my link...oh well, I have been trying to get it figured out and I think more than likely...no...most definately I am the one who is technologically challenged! Thanks for trying. Are you going to the get-together in August? Maybe we can share photos there!

Maxwell and Scamper! Love the names!

Kaylen and Doc are quite a pair! Thanks for sharing....

  6. Hi Jenn and Dave and welcome!

Bless your hearts and the road you have traveled!

Things are pretty exciting around here, huh?

We are new as well and still getting situated on the forum but feel great about joining the Abrazo family. My Aunt lives in Shreveport...small world! We have family all over down there. I sure hope you get to make it to the July orientation! Keep us posted!

    ~Andrea and Don

  7. Thanks guys! We are headed over to "Next stop-July orientation" right now! We added a picture to our profile(hope it doesn't come out too big!). My family is all in Texas already so it will be a blessing to have them around as we go through all of this. They are terribly excited for our visit in July and the hope it brings to our family. smile.gif

  8. Hi!

We are making our first post, hoping to navigate our way around the forum, and excited to begin the Abrazo journey!

I see Edwin and Gigi are new from Michigan as well...I think we live close...we should talk!

We will be making our travel plans this weekend for the orientation in July and are overcome with excitement! biggrin.gif

Who else is going to be there? Maybe there is a post on this already? We will look around here more and see. We were just so excited to make our first post after we received the confirmation for our spot in July!

We are looking forward to meeting some really great folks here!

    Thanks,

    ~Don and Andrea
