  1. I was just curious when you fellow Birthparents out there decided that adoption was the most loving decision you could make for your child? I decided in both cases the day after or the day of when I was pregnant. But I know for some it's later on in the pregnancy. So what finally helped you make up your mind? Do you would have been easier if you would have decided at a different time?

Just picking ???"s to learn more about what other Birthmom's go through. As you all may/may not know I'm working on my Masters in Social work and I plan on going into the adoption field someday. I want to work with birthmothers. I know I already know kinda how it feels but since I know we are all different I would love to hear more thought processes in the early stages of adoption.

Wow - Thank you for sharing what's on your heart.

What an incredible gift you will be giving to those you'll touch. God has many plans for you - and you are courageously following what He's calling you to do!!! I have chills and think that this is an awesome, awesome thing you are doing!!

  2. Hi Amanda -

I hope you are doing really well and life is good biggrin.gif Chip and I loved meeting you @ orientation and were very moved by your life story. It helped both of us get a better understanding of the gifts of open adoption. And it was really courageous of you to open up like that!

Here's to many blessings being brought your way wub.gif Hope to see you again soon @ future Camp Abrazos!!

  4. Kenneth is pulling away from the t-mobile place  now so I have to type quick.  We have had a time finding internet in San Antonio.  All of the starbucks are changing to t-mobile hot spots....

Anyway, thanks for all of the congratulations.  We are so happy we don't know what to say.  Baby Mitchell Lafayette was born 2/27/06 6lbs 2 oz and 21 inches!  We are still at the hospital trying to make sure he eats enough but he is otherwise healthy.  We are hoping to meet the birthmom this week, but she is nervous to meet us.

Posting pics tonight...must get back to hold our little one now.

  5. To All Future Orientation Go-ers:

Chip (my hubby) and I just returned from the January orientation, and we are so grateful to have had the experience. The birthmoms who spoke were incredibly courageous, tender and honest. I was humbled and awed by the love they have for their children. The connections we made with the birthmoms and the women of Abrazo were spiritual, and we left with such hope. The fears about "open" adoption were squelched. And we had such fun, too!!

Our suggestion - go with open ears to hear the message and open hearts to embrace the people! You'll leave behind and take with you many gifts! laugh.gif
