We are thrilled for you Matthew and Betsy and so happy to hear about Avery Elizabeth. The name is just beautiful! It sounds like the wait was well worth it and we are so glad that you were there for your sweet birthmother. We are so sorry to hear that Betsy is so sick and will be saying prayers for her recovery and for your healthy days ahead for the three of you!! Enjoy every moment of these first days -- they are so very special.

Abrazo recently heard from an out-of-state couple who had to pay $4K for just a homestudy update!!!
Please, please, shop around... while folks are often reluctant to question social workers for fear of offending them, the profession does still require accountability and we can't imagine how any agency could justify this kind of update fee-- no matter how reputable an agency seems to be.
Our homestudy update would have been $375
Our homestudy was $1200 with each additional visit as needed at $325
If any folks are in the MD/VA/DC area we would highly recommend Adoptions Together -- they did our homestudy and are now doing our post-placement.

This is just wonderful news Jason and Kristen!!!!! Yippee!! I have been checking regularly in hopes that this good news would come and it has!!! Enjoy your daughter!!! We are still in San Antonio waiting on interstate compact so if you need anything, please let us know!!

Yes, Amy, word from the home front is that the Texas flag is flying!! Our neighbors got it up when we called with our official news yesterday morning. I have finally posted our official brief announcement on 10-4-Good Buddies just now...Tasia is just done with her 12:30 feeding and it is time for 3 more hours of shut eye...off to bed!
