  1. Wow! Lisa and Amanda thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. Thank you for putting into perspective what you were going through when you placed your children. What amazing women you both are, your children and adoptive parents are blessed to have you in their lives.

We have a mostly closed relationship with our daughter's birthmother at her request and so we don't really know how she is feeling and what she is going through and we wonder how she is doing on a daily basis. We miss her being a part of our lives and have so many questions for her that we're not sure will ever be answered.

My husband and I took placement of our daughter on August 29, 2005 and that is where we met her wonderful birthmother for the first time, we have only spoken with her one more time since then. She did not make a placement plan for Leyna until after she was born and she didn't tell her family about her pregnancy. We worry about her and wonder how her family will take the news if and/or when they find out. We hope that they will be supportive of her and her decision. We hope that one day we will be able to have a relationship with her and her family, because, after all, they are Leyna's family too.

  2. Monica and Clyde congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! We know what its like to wait nine months for a B.O.G. Our Leyna took nine months to find us. Its true what they say, "good things come to those who wait." Enjoy your sweet little bundle of pink!

  3. Sounds like a great time Elizabeth! Wish we were there! :D It's hard to believe that we started our journey at Orientation almost two years ago. How the time flies! Have fun everyone and get ready for the ride of your life!

  4. Hi,

Yes we plan on coming to the picnic. It will be great to meet other's from our area and from Abrazo.

Do you know how many are in and around Michigan that have adopted from Abrazo??

    Gigi,

We're very excited about seeing you and Edwin! There are about betwen twelve to fifteen couples that are from the Michigan area (I don't have my list with me), with some new families joining the ranks, including you guys!! So far we have seven families that are coming to our picnic! It should be great!

As far as the baby shower goes, we had one after we brought Leyna home. It was very nice to have our family around, welcoming her and getting a chance to meet her in person.

  5. Congrats Tony, Linda and little Andrew!! We are so happy for you. If you have any questions about preemies, feel free to ask away. Our son was born weighing in at 4lbs 7 oz., two months early and now is the biggest kid in his kindergarten class!! Just watch, they grow fast! Congratulations!!! biggrin.gif

  6. I agree with you Gigi. I just feel that Michigan doesn't handle the adoption process in a timely manner. When we were told by our Michigan agency that if we would take placement of a child, the birthparents would have up to thirty days to go to the courthouse to terminate their rights after placement, I was very nervous. I know that many families have had success and that time frame wasn't an issue for them, but I was very uncomfortable with it.

  7. Take this couple we know: this time yesterday, they were packing for a trip to Barbados, leaving tomorrow.

A couple hours later, they were enjoying a late-night phone call with destiny.

And today, they gladly traded in their vacation plans for a trip to San Antonio, to meet their new, tiny, two-week-old baby boy and his loving birthparents, who recently moved here from out of state.

Congratulations Mike and Kelly! A new baby changing all your plans?? Welcome to the life of being a parent!! Those little ones like to let you know whos in charge, and it certainly isn't us! Enjoy that sweet little plan-changer!!
