    I found this today and thought it was beautiful!

    We have waited for so long

    for this child of choice.

    Bless us

    with an abundance of your love

    that we may be good parents,

    that we may create a home of blessing,

    that we may encourage this child

    to the fullness of his/her potential.

    Bless our child, O God.

    Give her security in our family,

    the joy of laughter in our home,

    and the courage to face

    the challenges ahead.

    Let our child know the love

    we feel so deeply for her,

    and let this love be a strength

    to confront the opportunities of life.

    Amen.

    Jenny and Teena,

    Thank you for being brave enough to share your stories, they both bring up so many memories (for many of us I'm sure). Warm hugs to you both!

    I do have a GOOD story along these lines I thought I'd share!

    Layna's birthmother and I were talking a while back about this entire process. How it's been right at a year since we met and changed all of our familes' lives forever, etc. etc. We suddenly realized that Layna was concieved at the exact same time as my last IVF!!!! During that time Bart and I (and our families) were just praying for a healthy baby that was meant to be ours. Little did we know that God did have a plan for that baby that we prayed for, I just wouldn't be the one carrying her!!!!!! As we were going through the IVF craziness I of course had already figured out the tentative due date if I were to get PG. Well, I lost all three embryos but guess what! Sweet Layna was born at the exact time I was looking forward to! HE does have a plan and Layna's birthmother and we believe that Layna was concieved for a reason and she was meant to be our child. Romanticizing a bit ...maybe? But it's what we like to believe. :rolleyes:

    Ok... I realize that everyone must "set their own limits" with regards to the "type" of case (read: child) they're willing to accept, but today was a first:

    I reviewed the first-ever application from a prospective adoptive couple who wrote in the margins that they will not consider any case in which the birthmother drank a caffeinated beverage during the course of her pregnancy.

    That, in my humble opinion, is an ideal example of moving from the ridiculous to the sublime!?! :rolleyes:

    It makes me shutter to think how their "future child" would be raised! :blink:

  25. Homestudy Updates

    There are tons of SWs in Memphis and a handful that do homestudies for adoption, but I have been told that Penny and Ellen are the only two who do Texas approved homestudies. If your friend is adopting in TN she can look online for adoption agencies locally. Most of those either do the studies or they could point her in the right direction. :)
