Congratulations Anne!
I am a soon to be (July 11th) 5 year breast cancer survivor.
Five years ago at this time I was preparing for major surgery; I could never have imagined I would ever be preparing for a baby. Yet, here we are!!! Thank God.
Blessings and good health to all of my fellow Survivors!

Veronica - Yes, it was the latest issue of CK! That's so funny. By the way, I found a place online which has quotes for just about anything under the sun, and that's where I found those. It's a great place for scrapbookers to go to for quotable inspiration! I will post the link:
Thank you for your kind words!
Stephanie
Thanks for the link. I'm sure it will be very useful. My scrapbooking buddies will be so excited to have another resource!!!!

Well, we completed our profile and mailed it in this week. I really wish I'd had the chance to see the examples they provide at orientation! Fortunately, I received my scrapbooking magazine the day I was getting started and I was inspired by the colorful but clean-cut photo on the cover. I decided to "scraplift" the color scheme and use their example as my template! Believe it or not, the colors were orange and blue - bold, but fun!
We used our "dear birthparent" letter (although, we entitled it "To someone special considering adoption" because that's really true!) as our first page, and then four additional pages with alliterative titles (I was an English major, go figure!)
Here are our four sections, with a quote on each section (the last section will have a poem I wrote):
FAMILY - "You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them."
-Desmond Tutu
FUN - "Love puts the fun in together, the sad in apart, and the joy in a heart."
-Author Unknown
FUTURE - "I know not what the future holds, but I know who holds the future."
-Author Unknown
FEELINGS - "Poetry is the revelation of a feeling that the poet believes to be interior and personal which the reader recognizes as his own."
-Salvatore Quasimodo
It was fun to be creative for a change - hopefully, it turned out okay!
Stephanie,
Those quotes are really wonderful. I bet your profile looks amazing.
Isn't "scraplifting" the best?!?!? Was that the new Creating Keepsakes?
Take care, Veronica

Just wanted to post a word of welcome to prospective parents who may be cancer survivors!! You're not alone; Abrazo is proud to have placed with a number of folks over the years who have overcome not only infertility but cancer, too, and as long as your doctors can affirm that you should have a normal life expectancy in order to parent, we welcome your application.
Because life holds no guarantees for any of us! And we know that.
But there are children in need of loving homes, out there, and life holds no guarantees for them, either, so whatever we can do, together, to try to ensure them a brighter future; let us work towards that goal. (And who better than a survivor, to teach kids how to negotiate all of life's uncertainties and still stop and smell the flowers, along the way?!)
Amen! Thanks for writing this Elizabeth. It will definitely reassure folks like me who are just starting their adoption journey.
Hope you don't mind I underlined and bolded my favorite lines, but you know us Jersey folks...we're pretty pushy!!!
Thanks again,
Veronica

I just posted some of our adventures on the FCI thread (love the acronym Sandi!!).
Also, to answer the earlier sleep questions you guys had. I can't speak for the whole group but I could barely sleep at all. Too much excitement, too much to think about, and most importantly, I'm not a good sleeper! I think we all crashed after things were done on Friday (some of us had long travel days), but we did extend the party out by the pool on Saturday. I don't know how late they stayed out. We cut out a little earlier than the rest because we had a super early flight and knew that "Springing Ahead" was going to get us Sunday morning!!

Hi Sandi!
I'm getting the feeling there are quite a few Jersey people in Abrazoland. We live in Union County...Exit 135....Hee,Hee,Hee!!!!
We've actually been wanting to join the Adoptive Parents Committee. Unfortunately, we couldn't make the meeting they just had Sunday night. Were you there?
It is so wonderful to see all of the support, friendship, and fun on this forum. We can't wait to be a full fledged part of it all.
We are hoping to hear this week if we are in for the next orientation.
Thanks for reaching out, Veronica

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and kind wishes.
The info regarding the infertility documentation has been extremely helpful. Hopefully, we will be able to pull everything together within the next week.
Thanks again, Veronica
