  1. Mary...

I think it may have been my link...oh well, I have been trying to get it figured out and I think more than likely...no...most definately I am the one who is technologically challenged! Thanks for trying. Are you going to the get-together in August? Maybe we can share photos there!

Maxwell and Scamper! Love the names!

Kaylen and Doc are quite a pair! Thanks for sharing....

    ~Andrea

We will be there and I will bring pics. Looking forward to meeting you.

    HI,

Livonia is a great place. We love it there. Maybe the next time you are out in our area we could meet somewhere or you can come over to our house. We would love to meet you.

I am originally from Chicago and my husband was born and raised in Taylor, MI. I have been here now for 10 yrs and love it.

Kami is our baby (Sassi our cat is too). We had no plans on getting a dog and 4 yrs ago I was up north and there was a little boy giving puppies away. Well I picked Kami up and she went onto my shoulder, licked my neck, let out a little cry and went to sleep. That was it. She was going home with me. :o

Edwin and I had been praying for a child and after we got Kami we changed the way we were praying and asking God for a child without fur. LOL

She is a very special animal and just loves life and people.

Hope to be able to meet you soon.

    Gigi

Dogs are the best - Kami sounds like a little sweetie. Will you be atht he gathering on August 13th? Either way we will can make plans to get together...

  2. Thanks Mary!

    You're very sweet!

Are there pictures of your puppies anywhere here? We'd love to see! We're a little canine crazy too :D

If you want, we have pics of our pups and the kitty at www.aandd06.spaces.msn.com . Like a proud mother I'm opening my virtual wallet of photos!

    Have a great day all!

    Andrea,

I tried to look at your pics but it did not work - of course this does not surprise me, I am technologically challenged!!!

I do not have any pics posted I really need to get on that. Maxwell is a bearded collie mix (think very large Benji) that I got at the Michigan Humane society and Scamper is a beagle that I found wandering when I lived in Plymouth. I also have "joint custody" of a golden retriever named Doc. He belongs to a friend of mine that travels for a living.

You can see Doc on my new personal photo - he just loves Kaylen. The feeling is quite mutual! :D

  3. Edwin &Gigi,

I just checked out your home page and I LOVE your story about Kami!! I am a huge dog person. I have two Maxwell and Scamper - "the boys."

I noticed you were from Michigan. We live on Grosse Ile. I grew up in Plymouth and am very fimilar with Livonia in fact my mom works in Livonia, my doctor's office is in Livonia, we were recently looking at buying a house in Livonia, okay I guess you get the picture.

Let me know if I can help you in anyway in your journey. :)

    Mary

  4. mkbourdage - I have tremendous respect for your ability to say no even when it was tremendously difficult ... and I am so happy that Kaylen is now in your lives!

Thank you so much - it was something I never prepared myself or anything that ever even crossed my mind. Life is as it should be and the joy that Kaylen brings us is tremendous!

  5. My heart goes out to parents-in-waiting who become so discouraged so soon in the process; I understand their desperate longing for a child and their anxiety about not having more control over the waiting game. But just because matches can happen doesn't mean they should. There's so much more to it than just being selected; you still need the discretion to assess, very honestly, the "fit" and your ability to make a lifetime commitment to that other party, as well as the child involved.

Time and time again I've witnessed the dissolution of matches that weren't meant to be, but were grasped like life rafts by people drowning in their doubts and fears, driven by their own needs rather than those of a child. Yet just as often I have been privileged to witness the grace and beauty of placements that were, clearly, heaven-sent and happened truly because the participants did "let go and let God," trite as it may sound.

Elizabeth could not be more right. Len and I had gotten to the point were we were wondering if we would ever match, even though it had only been a few months after orientation. We had several birthmother calls arranged but did not get a hold of most of them. Plus we really liked the first birthmother we spoke to and she choose to match with another couple. We were discouraged. Then we got a BOG call. The birthmother choose us. We declined the match. It was the most difficult decision we had ever made but something was not right. It was a decision that we second guessed several times. But that something, that "feeling" was the fact that we were meant to be Little Miss Kaylen's parents. We just LOVE that little girl. Had we match we the birthmother of the BOG we would have missed out on the most precious person in our lives. We love our birthmother and our realtionship was so easy - so right. I also have it on good authority that the little BOG was placed with a wonderful couple that just adore that baby - that baby was placed with the people that were meant to be that baby's parents. Everything as it should be... smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

  6. Pack casual and comfortable. I wore jeans on Friday night and kahakis (sp?) on Saturday. Most everyone wore jeans. We went to orientation in March so the weather was still kinda cool - not sure what it will be like in May - but I guess that doesn't matter too much since you will be in the air conditioned meeting room. Don't worry about it too much, just make sure you are comfortable.

Enjoy the weekend. It truly is a fountain of information. I guarantee you will meet some wonderful people smile.gifsmile.gif

    Mary

Oh just a side note Friday night can go pretty late - I think we wrapped it up around 11:00 (which was midnight for us because we are from Michigan) - I just wanted to tell you because I wish I had known.

  7. Thanks everyone!!!

I have another doctor's appointment tomorrow hopefully I will get the necessary info from him then.

We have not yet submitted our application so I do not think I will be able to get into the March orientation perhaps the following one.

    Thanks again
