Have a great trip to Vegas!

Saw this quote from the late Maya Angelou on the news last night and thought it was appropriate for all:
"You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them."

Good reminders that the profiles are important but don't stress too much about them because you never know what will draw an expectant mother to yours. With Landon's birthmom she told us that she liked that we played volleyball together. We had put a pic of our volleyball team in there just so that we didn't have all pictures of just the two of us.
Good luck to all those working on profiles and remember you can request an Elite Guide to help you throughout the process, including reviewing your profile if you'd like.

Hi there! I work for a larger corp and they also did not have any adoption benefits or paid leave. For both of my children I took 12 weeks off unpaid via FMLA. I agree that it doesn't seem right that because we didn't physically give birth that we don't qualify for paid leave, but it seems that's actually very common.
I made sure to file a written complaint to my company about it and can only hope that one day they change their paid leave policy for future adoptive parents. I remember getting really upset when I learned of my company's policy...feeling that I already was facing infertility and then told that if I am able to adopt I would have to save up even more money to stay home and bond with my child (I did it of course but it certainly would have been better to not worry about making the mortgage payment at that point in time!).

Getting frustrated already with this cold weather.. (not the weather's fault though)... these last two cold spells are making me HATE coats even more.. Two brand new blazers/short jackets.. a leather one and a wool one I bought two years ago do not fit...ugh... I think I will start looking for a nice pancho style winter cover up instead of replacing with more jackets....
I feel your pain. I bought a new winter coat this year and last. I finally like the one I found this year but it's a little snug in certain areas...ugh. At least your colder weather is not 3 degrees (which is the temp in MN right now).
Since there isn't an "it's colder than blankety blank blank" smiley face, I will use with one. haha!
Nice to see you posting again Mari!
