  1. Grace Ann calls her birthmommy Mommy Monica. Just today someone commented about her hair and Grace Ann said "I get my pretty hair from my Mommy Monica, I lived in her belly!" She then pointed at me and said" This is my Mommy Mommy, her belly is broken!" tongue.gif

  2. Hi Alyssa,

I would contact Abrazo. The girls there can help you with talking to your mom about adoption. We adopted our little girl almost three years ago. Our birthmom's Mother was very against adoption of any kind for her granddaughter. Abrazo invited her to come to the birthparent support group. After the meeting Abrazo sat down with her to help answer ALL the questions that she had about open adoption. My husband and I were matched a week later with our wonderful birthmom.

I can't say that our daughter's birthgrandmother was ever thrilled about the fact that her grandbaby was going to be adopted and raised in TN, but she has come to see that Grace Ann is loved and taken care of(spoiled tongue.gif ).

I hope you connact Abrazo and let them help you. They are wonderful!

You will be in my prayers.

    Melissa

P.S. I am glad that you are safe and sound and away from Rita's path.

  3. We were told about Abrazo by a friend who knew someone who adopted their son through Abrazo a year earlier. Come to find out Chris went to school with the girl and had known her all his school years. She went on to do our homestudy a month later. Grace Ann was born eight months later!

  4. I am not Elizabeth, but Grace Ann has several siblings.

We send her siblings birthday cards and we try to call them on their b-day as well.

Now that Grace Ann is getting more verbal she will talk to them when I call her birthparents. It is so funny to watch Grace Ann as she talks to them. She gets the biggest smile on her face as she tells each one of them "hello" and calls them by name. After she gets through talking to one they pass the phone to the next in line then sometimes they start all over again!

They love to hear their little Hispanic sister with a Southern accent.

  5. There have been many times that God was leading me, but the most recent is what I think of most often.

When we were going through our fertility treatments I felt all along that God was telling me to adopt. It was so strong one time that I actually thought someone was in my ear whispering to me. I knew at that point that the treatments were not going to work. It wasn't a surprise to God that I couldn't get pregnant. He knew long before I was ever born that adoption was the path for me.

Of course I have to keep reminding myself that God wants to help me find my way in the little things in life, but that is where it gets hard for me. Letting go and letting God. It is truly amazing that when I do give up the control God never leads me astray.
