Stork Central 1,114
Sadly, we lost an expectant mom today who'd been coming to group for several weeks but only wanted to place with a childless Hispanic couple. We had none to offer her, so she is moving on to another program. If anyone knows of Hispanic couples without children who are hoping to adopt, please send them to Abrazo, so that other prospective birthmoms of Hispanic descent coming here can find families who look like their own, if that's what they're looking for... Thanks!
Stork Central 1,114
Omigosh you're talking about US! My husband and I are so excited for the orientation in less than 2 weeks!!! New Orleans is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Texas (the border, anyway) and we can't wait to meet y'all. Thank you thank you thank you Lindsey and Elizabeth! "Laneybug" and her husband are already home with their sweet new Abrazo baby! If you know of couples of any ethnicity with infertility who are interested in adopting, who have been married for more than a year, are financially sound and emotionally stable and ready to learn about open adoption, please send them to Abrazo. Our final orientation weekend of the year is coming up and we need awesome new adoptive families to send home with new sons and daughters throughout the coming year!! Stork Central 1,114
It's us, again, and by the grace of God, Abrazo needs more new adoptive couples again! We've had a flurry of placements recently. and we are in special need of (1) childless couples, of (2) Texans, and of (3) adoptive families with children who are racially open, as these are the sorts of adoptive homes most of our placing parents are seeking lately. Please pass this on to your homestudy agencies, your adoptive parent support networks and to any friends or relatives you may know who in interested in adopting and who would be a great addition to the Abrazo community. Abrazo works with traditionally-married couples over the age of 25 who have documented infertility, are emotionally-sound, financially stable, and ready to commit to open adoption. Our agency serves adopting families in all states except NY. (As an added bonus, inquiry fees are being waived for the month of July, in celebration of Abrazo's 21st summer of operation!) Those who are interested in more information can find it on Abrazo's website, at http://www.abrazo.org, or call Abrazo's Family Services Coordinator Stacy Levinson at 210-342-5683.

Stork Central 1,114
It's official-- we NEED more adoptive families! Abrazo has done six placements in the past four weeks and currently has five more pending, so we are presently accepting infertile adopting couples with OR without children, and we need couples in Texas and from out-of-state, for children of all races and both genders. Our next orientation is August 28-29, so if you've been thinking about getting started (or starting again,) NOW IS THE TIME! If you've never adopted from Abrazo before, start here: http://abrazo.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/InquiryForm.pdf If you're adopting from Abrazo again, skip ahead here: http://abrazo.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/CurrentApplication.pdf
Stork Central 1,114
Abrazo is presently accepting applications from againers, so if you have adopted previously (whether with Abrazo or elsewhere) and you are seeking to do another open adoption of an infant, toddler or sibling group, please download the application from the Abrazo website and get started now! Stork Central 1,114
Our 2016 Orientation Weekend dates are tentatively set, so if you know of a childless couple or lovable againers with documented infertility who are seeking to adopt Anglo and/or Hispanic and/or African-American infants and toddlers, and who are the kind of great folks we want for Abrazo's nationally-renowned open adoption program, please encourage them to send in their inquiry form now, or refer them to Stacy at Abrazo for more information: 210-342-5683. Abrazo's average wait time for childless couples is still running 6-12 months or less (couples with kids who have no gender restrictions are usually waiting 12 months or so), and our case costs and fees are still averaging $24-27k (assuming Medicaid/insurance coverage), well under the national average for private agency domestic adoptions. Pay it forward-- help the adopting couples you care about find their way to the agency that cares about you!

TexasFamily 190
I am part of a panel at work next month to discuss adoption and the new benefits that the company I'm working for is implementing next year. If they allow us to state which agency we used, I will make sure and discuss that y'all are looking for childless couples for orientation weekend.

Stork Central 1,114
Abrazo has had a flurry of calls lately from expectant parents wishing to match and parents already parenting needing to place, and has nearly exhausted our supply of ready waiting families, so our agency currently needs adopting couples and againers for infants, toddlers and sibling groups of all backgrounds! Additionally, we have recently had prospective birthparents voicing specific requests for: childless couples of any race who are wanting to adopt their first baby* Texas couples with or without children already who are committed to openness* couples already parenting who are seeking to adopt a baby boy* adoptive parents open to a male toddler* adoptive parents open to a female toddler* Hispanic couples wanting to adopt Hispanic infants* adoptive parents open to an Anglo sibling group of three (two girls and a boy)* adopting families of Jewish descent for a currently-expectant mother of the same background* adopting parents open to pregnant mothers with hepatitis C and/or on methadone* adopting parents open to an African-American or biracial infant* To be considered for any immediate matches or placements, interested couples must submit completed homestudies and profiles to Samantha at Abrazo, followed by inquiry and application forms, contracts and fees upon request. To be considered for future matches or placements, prospective adoptive parents who are new to Abrazo need to start by filling out the Inquiry Form and having Abrazo submit their names and data for TDFPS background clearances, to be followed by completion of the full application, attendance at orientation and submission of a completed homestudy, contracts and funds. Call Abrazo if you need more information or if you have questions: 210-342-5683, or visit www.abrazo.org. * Abrazo's full-service program requires adopting parents to be emotionally stable, financially sound, be legally-married more than a year if wed, have documented infertility and be at least 25 years of age. Stork Central 1,114
Abrazo's next orientation weekend is coming up in May, and we have a large demand right now for childless couples and for Texans, so if you're either (or both) and you have concluded fertility treatment and you're ready to devote all your efforts to adoption instead, please apply now! Contact Martha at Abrazo (210-342-5683) if you need additional information or have specific questions after reviewing our website.
Stork Central 1,114
Abrazo just had to cancel next weekend's planned orientation, because we didn't have enough applicants with paperwork on file. We hate to do that to the couples who did get their paperwork in! but it takes at least five ready couples to make an orientation weekend a success, and right now, Abrazo's greatest demand is for childless couples. (Wonder why? Read this week's blog: Childless Couple, Interested in Adopting.) The childless couple who took placement of a newborn here today and felt as if they'd been waiting f-o-r-e-v-e-r just finished their homestudy in December 2018... if you're done with infertility treatment and ready to move on to open adoption instead, please complete your inquiry and application form ASAP and let's get you on your way to FAMILY!!!! Stork Central 1,114
Here's the latest update--- Abrazo has been VERY conservative in its admissions practices throughout the Covid pandemic, and as a result, we are in urgent need of * childless couples with racially-open placement preferences, * Hispanic and/or African-American adoptive couples, * parents seeking to adopt noninfants, and/or * applicants living in Texas who are ready for open adoption. Visit abrazo.org/hoping-to-adopt to learn more about Abrazo's placement program and to download the AP Inquiry (preapplication) form that's needed to get the process started. Have specific questions after reviewing the entire website? Call our Family Services Coordinator, Amy Byrd, at 210-342-5683, during business hours.
Stork Central 1,114
Abrazo’s greatest need at present is still for childless couples who are racially-open, and for Texans. If you don’t fall into these categories, you ARE still welcome to submit the AP inquiry form that can be downloaded from our website (and we hope you do!) We may not be able to admit or match or place you as quickly, but we want you to know our program needs upfront, so that you can begin the process with realistic expectations. Stork Central 1,114
Here's the update, friends... our program continues to see adoptive families with children placing much more slowly than the average childless couples (particularly Texas couples without kids) so please bear with us! At present, our program is most in need of infertile couples with no children who are racially-open and also those who reside in Texas. We do welcome out-of-state childless couples (but are finding that prospective birthparents have be apprehensive about those couples' willingness to return to Texas for at least annual visits in the post-adoption years.) Families with children who are seeking to adopt older children (ages 3 and above) and Abrazo's esteemed Againers (returning Abrazofolk) get priority on our placement program waiting list as space permits, as long as they are in good standing and are open to children of diverse backgrounds. Have questions? Please call! 210-342-5683
