For All Mom's celebrating their FIRST Mother's Day... May This special Day be filled with love..

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mom -
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life
so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

"For this child we prayed; and the Lord hath given us our petition which we asked of Him:

Therefore, also, we share her with the Lord; as long as she lives she shall belong to the Lord as well."

1 Samuel 1:27-28 (KJV/Abrazo version)

Theirs was a prayer that began years ago, when they met and fell in love and dreamed of building a family together. God heard that prayer, throughout all the challenges that seemed to befall them-- as she conquered cancer, as they dealt with infertility, as they approached adoption.

They first attended Abrazo's orientation in late 2012 but soon realized they weren't financially prepared for such an undertaking. So they put their adoption dreams off a bit, yet found themselves blessed by the support of another orientation group member whose family offered them financial support and by a community that put on a softball tournament to help raise needed funds.

They came back and joined the Fiesta Under the Bus orientation of April 2013 and continued their prayer, as their popular adoption profile attracted the attention of numerous mothers considering placement. They endured disappointments as plans failed to come to fruition, yet found themselves blessed to learn more about the needs of birthparents, and to have time to focus on other personal quests in the interim (such as job changes and even a successful audition for the American Ninja Warrior competition.)

Throughout it all, they remained faithful to their dream of parenthood, and their faith was the answer to another young mother's prayers last week, as she delivered a baby girl who'd been unexpected by her, yet who was clearly very much expected by God.

She chose this couple, they chose her back and today, we all lift a joyous and collective "Amen!" as this precious baby, so very loved by all, goes home in the arms of the parents who prayed for her, and waited for her, and now know beyond a shadow of a doubt why God's timing is (always!) best. Blessings, all!
