Baby Announcements 2010

God just wasn't done with today's miracles, it seems... for this afternoon, another family who'd recently opted to let a match go received a call they'll never forget, one that made sense of everything that had happened up 'til then! For a married couple was looking for experienced parents for their newly-born baby boy, and upon seeing their profile and speaking with them, it became clear to all that this truly was a match made in Heaven. These excited graduates of our H.S.B.D. orientation group of 10/09 raced into action to get their homestudy update forwarded to Abrazo immediately! They then traveled across the state to San Antonio, to meet their precious new son and introduce him to his new "big" brother right away, rather than wait even one more day. We just couldn't be any happier for this special family, and also for the very dear birthparents who made such a loving choice on their little boy's behalf. May this tiny miracle be a blessing to all of you, always!

P.S. (Nice work, God! Keep these miracles coming our way, we pray!)

WooHoo, a two 'fer day! May the two Abrazo families enjoy this time like no other and may the two families dealing with the heartbreak of loss have enough love around them to help them in their healing process.

Nothing quite like a Stork Central post to brighten the day. Keep 'em coming!

  • 4 weeks later...

In every world-class mountain climbing expedition, there are countless unknown factors but one thing generally IS certaint: no matter who leaves the base camp when, somebody will summit first and someone will summit last-- but the view is sure to be just as awesome, at either point.

On this very day, the 2010 Mt. Everest IMG expedition team waits anxiously at base camp in Nepal, where it is 5 am right now. They have been stuck there for days, watching Lhotse and the West Shoulder of Everest, hoping for a break in the weather so that they can commence with the legendary climb. Today, their pragmatic Team Coach Greg Vernovage, as eager to get moving and as tired of waiting as any of his team, posted this message to their friends and families back home: "This is how we climb mountains: work hard to get in position, then wait for the right time... for your appointed opportunity."

So it has been for our latest brave explorers, graduates of Abrazo's "Are We There Yet?" orientation weekend of February 2009. While they might not have chosen to wait until today for placement, there's no place today that they would rather be, as they celebrate the adorable newborn son who will journey through life with them (and one excited new big sister!) from this point on.

The climbers at Mt. Everest have no idea that thousands of miles from there, a very special Kentucky couple has finally/just reached their own summit! but all share the same qualities of courage and determination and grace and perseverance.

Sending our hearty congratulations to our final Yetties on their joyous achievement, biggest hugs to the dear birthfamily who made it possible, and prayers for all who wait (whether they're PIWs or the climbers and sherpas halfway 'round the world), still patiently asking... "are we there, yet?"
