Nursery Notes

From time to time, Abrazo has need of referrals of homestudied families for special situations; cases in which specific kinds of parents are needed for pending placements (for which the agency has no appropriate homes already-in-waiting.) While we do not wish to rely upon the Internet as a means of facilitating quality adoptions, Abrazo will occasionally post possible placement opportunities here in an effort to expand our access to appropriate parents-in-waiting for special cases.

Should you or someone you know have an interest in a placement possibility posted here, please fax a current homestudy to Abrazo's Family Services department, at 210/342-6547 with a note citing the case of interest, and an agency caseworker will respond by phone within 3 days. (Current or past Abrazo clients in good standing with completed homestudies on file may phone the Family Services Coordinator directly to express interest.)

Thanks for helping us help our little ones in need!

Due in September 2003: a biracial baby boy with a serious but correctable medical condition called gastroskesis. Birthmother has received prenatal care, presently covered under Medicaid. She would prefer an African-American or interracial couple but will consider qualified parents of any background. Placement may qualify for state special needs subsidy.

Please keep this little guy and his birthfamily in your prayers as we search for an appropriate home for him.

We will certainly keep this very special baby in our prayers. I want the best for him and his Birthmom. Please update us on the outcome!  We know the Abrazo Angels can make miracles

happen with the power of prayer.

He just turned two, has blonde hair and blue eyes, and needs a loving adoptive family to provide the sort of stable home and secure future his birthparents want for him.

If you (or someone you know) is homestudy-approved for toddlers and ready for placement, please contact Angela at Abrazo for more information on this precious little boy.

We're looking for a homestudy-approved couple or family who are members of the Church of Christ, for a devout birthfamily seeking to place a baby in just such a home. Spread the word, if you will! Interested parties should contact Angela at Abrazo within 3 weeks of this posting date (note: please fax your completed homestudy to 210/342-6547 in advance of a phone call, in order to meet state standards allowing us to release further information regarding this case).

We're happy to report that our search for a Church of Christ couple led to a lovely match between the birthfamily mentioned above and a TN family who were present for the birth, just today. Thank you to all who assisted in spreading the word, enabling the proud new parents to find their way to Abrazo.

Now, we are in need of three special families, for three precious, biracial (Hispanic + African-American) infants due between March and June! All three birthmoms are lovely young women of Hispanic descent, each of whom is receiving prenatal care and has an identified birthfather aware of the pregnancy/adoption plan. If you know of potential parents for these coming children, please have them contact our Family Services Coordinator, Angela Martinez, at 210/342-5683.

Your assistance is much appreciated.

Our biracial babes all got home safe and sound, thanks to the angels who watch these Nursery Notes and spread the word that good parents are needed! Now, we're looking for loving families for two to-be-born African-American boys, due in August and September to wonderful birthmoms already active in our birthparent support group; and for a very patient couple interested in Anglo-Hispanic twins due early next year, to an older, incarcerated birthmom who will need virtually no financial assistance but plenty of emotional support between now and then. Know of any possibilities? Get their homestudies faxed in to Angela, please, and she'll be in touch!

Dear Agencie,

May I introduce ourselves we are Guido and Liesbeth. We live in the Netherlands and we can’t adopt on the Dutch way. The reasons we are 45 year and then you may adopt no longer. You are too old. The word birthmotheradoption do not knows one in the Netherlands, for this are no rules. We are very interested in the two babies, twins, the Anglo-Hispanic twins due early next year. For an adoption in the Netherlands the maximum age lies beneath 42 year. Above this age one can not get a permission to go on with Dutch agencies. Both my wife and I are 45 years of age.

It is possible to adopt through a foreign adoption organisation, the Dutch law gives permission when one wants to follow that process. Then the children have a double nationality right after birth. So in the US they are seen as US Citizens and in Holland they are Dutch Citizens. By bringing them to Holland the children will have all the benefits of a Dutch Citizenship right from the start. We already have made a birthmother letter and photo book.

Warm regards,

Liesbeth and Guido

We are no longer in need of prospective homes for the forementioned twin case, but given the number of summer placements Abrazo has done, we have a huge need for childless couples or families with kids for Hispanic and/or biracial infants, toddlers and/or sibling groups, as well as a strong birthparent demand for childless, young Texas couples for infants of any race.

The next scheduled orientation is coming up quickly; if you've been legally married a year or more, are over the age of 25, and cannot achieve pregnancy, we'd like to hear from you, so submit a completed inquiry form (downloadable off our website) or contact Angela at Abrazo for more info. (210/342-5683.) Thanks!

Anybody out there know of an interracial (Anglo & African-American) couple who would love to become proud parents of a biracial baby boy due next month? Birthmom is receiving prenatal care and does have Medicaid coverage; she longs for her child to be raised in a loving home with parents whose racial backgrounds reflect his own. Interested families, please call Abrazo, asap!

Abrazo is seeking very special, multicultural and homestudy-ready adoptive parents for a beautiful set of two-month old twin girls of Irish/Hispanic/Cantonese/African-American descent.

Qualified applicants must be U.S. citizens over the age of 25, legally married for more than a year, with documented infertility (unable to conceive) and a willingness to commit to continuing post-placement communication with the birthfamily.

Abrazo is accepting letters of interest with completed homestudies between now and 9/20/04; information can be mailed to our office or faxed to 210/342-6547 during business hours. Gracias!

My husband and I have a three year old homestudy that needs to be updated. We have two adopted Hispanic children--a daughter who is 6 1/2 and a son who is almost 3. Have you already found a family for the twins? When is your next adoptive parents weekend?

The agency is continuing to receive inquiries regarding the twin case, and hope to have them in a loving home prior to the next scheduled Parents-of-Tomorrow weekend (Oct. 15-16) so as to minimize their foster care stay. (Therefore, interested parties should fax completed and current homestudies to Angela Martinez at 210/342-6547 for further consideration. Thank you!)

Is there a Parents-of-Tomorrow weekend scheduled yet for November? My husband and I will not be able to make it to the October meeting and would love to come down from Michigan in November.

Thanks for asking! We do try to post all upcoming events on the Forum Calendar (see upper right hand link); November's orientation weekend is scheduled for the fifth and sixth, but may be subject to change depending on availability so please call Angela at Abrazo before booking travel! smile.gif

We have a precious little Latina B.O.G. in need of a loving home! Born this week, her birthfamily would like for her to go to a young, childless couple with connections to the Hispanic community. While there was no prenatal care, the birthfamily does have insurance coverage; the baby was cocaine exposed, but is doing just fine! and she's ready to go home. Interested and homestudy-ready parents-to-be may call Angela Martinez this week for more information. (210/342-5683) Thanks for helping us get this little angel where she belongs!

From the stork's nest, we can see a number of coming placement opportunities for which good families are needed, from beyond the agency's current roster of parents-in-waiting:

...a birthmom is seeking an interracial (Anglo/African-American) couple for her biracial baby girl due 12/04...

...a secure, tolerant couple prepared for a challenging match with a drug-using mom lacking prenatal care and Medicaid/insurance coverage, who is expecting full Anglo twins (boy & girl) likely to be born prematurely in Dec/Jan...

...a birthmom getting Medicaid-covered prenatal care is longing to talk with families interested in her Hispanic/African-American baby girl due in January...

...a financially-stable couple willing to match with a birthmom expecting a Hispanic baby boy in March, who is in need of full maternity support for housing for herself and the severely-disabled child she is already parenting...

...childless parents-to-be ready for full Hispanic newborns due between December 2004 and March 2005...

...two loving Texas families open to legal-risk sibling placements (one male twin toddler case, and one toddler-and-baby case), with ongoing birthfamily contact to follow...

Abrazo's family services department is welcoming qualified and homestudied applicants for these case opportunities between now and 12/1/04. Please fax valid, U.S. homestudies to Angela at 210/342-6547 with a letter of interest in order to receive a callback with further information. (For further information on Abrazo's admissions criteria, please refer to the agency website.)

Hi, Sherrie! Obviously, you would want to talk with doctors about the hep C factor, since none of us on staff can give medical advice, but for other information about this case or others posted here, please call Angela at the office and she can fill in the details for you. smile.gif
