Amy & Gabriela,

I'll be anxiously awaiting stories from your upcoming orientation this month...as well as following each of your journeys.

Amy...get ready for a wild ride; as your cohorts in Memphis that have been there/ done that or are currently in the process can attest, it's an amazing experience. I'm sure you have pretty good insight into how open adoption works due to the wonderful Abrazo families you have access to, but I think you'll still be blown away at the connections you are about to make. Enjoy!

Gabriela...we were againers too; it's so weird the second time around, so many questions about how "this one will go". Our second was so different from our first...not in a bad way by any means, just different! What a comfort to have a bunch of familiar faces and voices though as againers...we love our Abrazo girls!

Congrats in advance to each of your families! wink.gif

Amy & Gabriela,

We will also be joining you guys in orientation in a few weeks! We too are Abrazo "againers" - and we wouldn't think of using anyone other than Abrazo the second time around. We had some struggles with our first match that we choose to terminate, but the second match was just right! Abrazo was there helping us every step of the way. The orientation weekend is a blast - and a very healing experience. And it is such a bonus to have a support group while you go through the adoption process. You wil get so excited when each couple in your group become parents!

Look forward to meet you guys soon.

A big hello to everyone out there in Abrazoland!!

This is my first post, and it is quite exciting. David and I are hoping to make it into the March 31st orientation. Our inquiry has been accepted, and we are awaiting the arrival of the application. I spoke with Angela on Friday, and she told me a few items to get started on for the application...tax return, proof of insurance, 3 letters of recommendations, letter regarding our infertility, pictures of our home. We have been working with a small agency in NJ so we're hoping the paperwork won't be too overwhelming! Any advice from the pros out there? What exactly do you need to submit about your infertility. We worked with a reproductive endocrinologist, but it has been 5 years since we've seen her.

After clicking around on the forum for a couple of weeks, it feels good to actually participate. Another new chapter in our journey to become parents begins...

Thanks!

Veronica

Hi Veronica,

Welcome to the forum!

When we began our journey last year w/ Abrazo, it had been 7 years since our last IF treatment. And we had not had any contact w/ our RE in that time. However, I have a nice relationship w/ my GYN & she knew of all our IF history, thus she was able to write our qualifying letter.

Basically, I sent a letter along w/ a SASE explaining our journey & what would be needed in a letter that would explain our IF history.

Prehaps you could call the office explaining the circumstances to expedite a letter from your RE's office.

Best wishes. Can't wait to follow your story!

Our story in the PeaBiscuit group from May 2005.

Our son was born August 2005!

Be ready for a the ride of your life, biggrin.gif!!

Welcome Veronica

My ER sent a very simple letter that stated our infertillity cause; it was not real elaborate. All you really need is something for the Agency to document that you are inferile. YOU ARE ABOUT TO BEGIN A GREAT JOURNEY, COngratulations!

We started in Sept of 05 and our son Cason was born on December 27th 05; he is precious and we are so glad we found Abrazo; you will be too!

Our group is 10 4 Good Buddies if you ever want to post over there with any questions we'd be glad to help!!!

Hello everyone,

Went home to Indiana last week to spend time with the family. I am so looking forward to our orientation weekend biggrin.gif Just 19 more days!!!!

Veronica we called my Infertility specialist and he is now my OB/GYN and he was happy to help. He just basically stated what treatment we had and that we had not been successful. He also gave his phone number just in case Abrazo had any questions. Chris and I hope to see you in 19 days!

Claudia and Brooke looking forward to meeting you. Anyone else out there going?

Amy, Claudia, and Veronica

We are so exctied to have our group already getting started on the Forum. Orientation is around the corner! I'm very excited to meet all of you and getting our new journey started.

Regarding infertility letter- ours was very brief written by our IF specialist saying something to the effect that we have unknown reasons for our infertility but have not been successful in concieving after several treatments. Hope that helps.

One of the things that took the most thought for me was the profile. It is the one piece that is presented to potential birthparents and it was hard for me to represent ourselves is so few pages. You may want to start looking for pictures to get you started and also begin writing a rough draft of your birthparent letter. For me, everything else after that was a piece of cake!

Take Care,

Gabriela and Chris

Hey everyone,

We are coming to orientation at the end of the month as well! Our son is an Abrazo-babe - he will be three in May. We are so excited to come back to orientation to begin our journey for baby #2 and looking forward to bonding with the other couples in our group. See you soon -

Hi, everyone! We're just starting our journey, and are wondering when the orientations are for this year. I was also wondering about being invited to one. If you are accepted by Abrazo, are you automatically invited to an orientation weekend? If so, how soon after being accepted will you receive an invitation?

Thanks

carleydvm,

Just to start off, I am not the expert here. Chris and I are going to the March 31st and April 1st orientation, but this is how it went for us.

First you fill out an inquiry and send to Abrazo. Then Abrazo will send you an application (they may call you if they have any questions). Then you fill out the application and send that into Abrazo. It took our application about 2 weeks to get reviewed and then we were invited to the next orientation (3/31 and 4/1).

There is a topic called Orientation and I posted in that section to find out the next orientation date. It looks like they have one about every other month.

Hope this helps and maybe will see later this month. smile.gif

Hi Carlydvm,

We are also headed to San Antonio for Orientation March 31st. This will be our second adoption with Abrazo and you couldn't have picked a better place to start your adoption journey. If you haven't done so already, you should call Angela at Abrazo to get you on the right track. Also she can tell you if there is any room in this next orientation if you are interested.

I look forward to hearing about your journey!!

Gabriela and Chris

Welcome, Carleydvm! We applied in December '04, got our acceptance letter and invitation in January '05 and attended the Jan. '05 orientation. Call Angela and get your seat on the most wonderful journey you've ever embarked upon! biggrin.gif

Yes, I am! And so's my dad! I work in his practice (automatic job right out of vet school!) My husband teaches high school--no science for him! He teaches history. Thanks for the warm welcome!
