  2. So happy for the new parents! Heather
  3. Heather, I have not yet read the book, it is something I'm a bit afraid of to read - I was not forced or coerced to place my child for adoption (they were before my time) but I still think it would hit a little close to home in that they had closed adoptions...anyway, I just wanted to say that the book was very well received by this triad group I am a part of that consists of mostly adoptees and birthmothers - so I wouldn't describe the book as anti-adoption at all, I don't believe that was the intent - rather to raise awareness of a group of women who otherwise are forgotten. -Lisa Thanks Lisa for the info it might be an interesting read then. Heather
  4. I was at Borders last night looking at adoption books and saw "The Girl who went away" but was not sure if it was anti adoption or not. I also think we should email Oprah and get Abrazo on the show! What do you think? Heather
  5. Congrats to the new parents! Your four legged kid or kids might get a little jealous now that you will have to divide your attention. Heather
  6. Lauren and Chuck, Welcome to the forum! How exciting to be on your way to parenthood! I' am also a Michigander and lived in Italy. I miss the great food. Sorry both my parents graduated from Michigan State but I think U of M is better! Heather
  7. Thank you! I hope you continue to post your journey on this forum. I'm glad life is going so well for you. Heather
  8. What a wonderful person you are! I can only imagine what you have felt. My heart goes out to you. We have two adopted daughters and I feel so blessed that we were chosen by their birthmothers and I hope that they feel as content as you do. I know at times I felt guilty for being the adoptive mother because I felt that their birthmothers would do just as good of a job. I always hope that when we meet again that they know that I have done my best to raise them. We only got to write letters and meet with our birthmohters once. Has it helped to have an open adoption? I would love to be more open with our birthmothers now! Heather
  9. Hi Amanda! Welcome to the forum. It is great to hear your side of the adoption process. I'm so glad you found the best family for your baby and that it is everything you hoped for and more. Congratulations to Cliff and Alison on your new little bundle of joy! Heather
  10. Gigi and Edwin, I am excited that you have found your way to Abrazo! You have found a unique agency. Everyone is so kind and it feels like a family of support. We are in the application process. So we are about at the same stage of the process. It will be fun to follow your story. I met a couple on our vacation that told us their difficult journey with adoption. They have not had much luck so I gave them Abrazos internet address and hope they can follow their dreams. Good luck and we cannot wait until you get your approval from Abrazo! Heather

    INQUIRY

Thank you so much Claudia & Mandy! I'm sure we will have MANY questions once (IF) we get an application! (We are being very hopeful!) Donna 45844[/snapback] Donna and Bart, Congratulations on your new voyage! I have been a part of this forum for about a month and I have loved getting to know the other Abrazo Moms. You will get your application soon. We are working on our application now. I was also very anxious to get mine. Keep us posted! Heather
  13. I will be an againer also. I have two daughters. I have never gone through Abrazo but I think that if there is a child that is meant to be mine it will happen! Who knows there may be a birthmother out there that already has children and she will have alot in common with you. She may feel more comfortable placing with a family that already has children. There is a differnt situation for everyone and I believe there is a perfect match for all of us.
  14. Lisa, Thank you so much for the info! I don't think I would have ever found those posts. While I was writing my e-mail about Angela and waiting for her response my husband went upstairs and told me I had a message from Abrazo. I was so excited but sad that I was not home to talk to her. I will call tomorrow. She said that she sent the application! I have so many questions. Thanks again! Heather
  15. I was wondering if anyone knew where to find the suggested reading list from Abrazo? I know I have seen it on the forum but I cannot find it now. I am just trying to keep myself sane while waiting to hear from Angela about our inquiry. Is anyone else out there in the inquiry phase? Heather
  16. I was wondering how others found a Liscensed Social Worker to do their Home Study? I live in the State of Georgia. Thank you for any recommendations or information that you could give! Heather
