  10. Franky, Below is a post I thought you might find interesting. My husband and I attended the TN picnic last summer and are parents now (we did not use Abrazo, although I have made lifelong friends through the forum and that picnic). We were the only couple there last year who was not with Abrazo and we went to ask questions and decide if we wanted to use them. Little did we know that I was pregnant at the time of the picnic. I was actually waiting to find out if my fertility treatment had worked that month when we were at the picnic (apparently it had). As you will see below I did miscarry that pregnancy, and Andrew found us just a short time later. Anyway, check out the MAMS thread and the TN Talk thread to find out all about the Memphis crew. We are not having a MAMS lunch this month due to the TN Picnic. We would love to have you in September. We usually do it the first or 2nd Saturday of the month. We hop around to different restaurants so just check the MAMS thread preiodically for updates about our next gathering. Celeste
  11. Congrats to the newest family. You are going to love having a boy. They are full of adventure.
  12. We did lots of research on domestic vs. international. Like Lisa, I really hoped for a newborn and knew that international would lead to an older child. We also weren't thrilled about having to stay in another country for a month. We would rather be in the good ol' USA for a month. At least here we can speak the language (well usually).
  13. I'm with Maralou. I wish Oprah would do a good show on adoption too. Maybe we should all email her!
  14. Congrats to the newest set of againer parents!
  15. One of my best friends used to comment that I didn't go through labor and have to recover my body afterwards. Well, no I didn't go through labor and I didn't have to recover from a pregnancy. (I did however have to recover from a miscarriage only 5 weeks before Andrew was born). Ok, got side tracked! Anyway, I finally told her she was right I didn't have to "recover" from my pregnancy, but I did get to live in fear for five days as Andrew's birthmother had to wait to sign her relinquisment papers. I had to wonder 24 hours each day if it was my last hour with Andrew. I had to wonder if our birthmother would come to the attorney's office and say she had changed her mind. So no I didn't have the "regular" labor that last what 24 hours or so, instead I had a 120 hour labor all while holding my little bundle of joy. We didn't get to form that great Abrazo bond with our birthmom because it was such short notice and semi-open. This led to my fear of her changing her mind even more. Anyway, after I told my friend about my labor.....she shut-up and didn't say that again. She is still one of my absolute best friends and I wouldn't trade her for the world.
  16. Congrats to the newest family. What a magical summer!

  22. Wilder family (now 3), We are soooooooooo excited for you all. I know Tucker is just an angel. We can't wait to meet him and tickle his little feet. I just love a babies feet. I remember when I first saw Andrew I was amazed at his tiny little feet. Take care of him and please call me once you get settled into the life of family, mommy, and hotel resident. Celeste
  23. Congrats congrats congrats. What a great story that just proves only one person is in charge and that is God. We have no control. Bless this new family.
  24. I say age doesn't matter. If you have a place in your heart for a child, then you will be a parent. I was 33 and Scott 44 when we adopted Andrew. I was nervous about it, but God was in control of the whole situation. Our age was never even mentioned by our birthmom. She was more concerned that we were stable and going to teach Andrew to respect himself and others.
