As far as the age thing goes with adoption- I was 29 and my husband was 31 when we began our adoption process..There were some birthparents who thought we were too young and wanted an older couple who were more established. Other birthparents did not have any issues with our ages... It just all depends on what the birth parents are looking for....I know we spoke to several birthmoms who liked our profle b/c my husband is in the naval reserves..... Every situation is different.... Don't give your age a second thought as the right match will happen for you and could be when you don't expect it.... Enjoy your time together now, get everything ready, and when things are meant to be it will happen.... Amy
  3. Jeff and I think open adoption is the only way to go. In 1999 we found out that my dad was adopted-he found out at the age of 50 at the reading of his adoptive father's will. What a way to find out huh? After seeing him go through his journey to find his birthparents, we are thankful our daughter Trinity will not have to waste any time or energy searching. The good news is my father found his birthmother and over the years they have developed a great relationship and end every phone call with "I love you." The man who my dad thought was his birth father has turned out not to be by DNA testing. This individual was also on his original birth certificate. It has been very frustrating, as the truth will not be told to him by anyone who could possibly know....He continues to search with no luck-as his birthmother does like to talk about this topic. Due to my father's experience is why we wanted to adopt before we even got married in 1999... Our daughter was a B.O.G. so we did not get to know our birth mom beforehand-but we have been fortunate to get to know her and spend time with her and her family. We are so happy that our family had just gotten bigger!!! One could not ask for anything better than openness and honesty. Trinity will grow up knowing just how much she is loved!!!! Amy
  4. I would contact Angela at Abrazo. We live in Fate, TX and she was able to recommend a social worker in our area. The social worker she told us about was WONDERFUL!!!!! Hope this helps. Amy
  5. Angie and Family- Congrats on your bundle of joy!!!! He is a cutie!!!! Take Care- Jeff, Amy, & Trinity
  6. HI- The 8 1/2" by 11" is best for copies to be made by the Abrazo girls. We did 3 pages front and back so we had a total of 6 pages to use. The main thing is to figure out what pics you want to use. Our first page told about us as a couple (little bit of writing alot of pics)...Our next page showed our house, nearby park, and church. Of course we had a pet page and then one about Jeff and one about me (these showed pics of our family and thngs we like to do)....The last page had a pic of us and told how we viewed open adoption....It helps to crop down pics..I added some frames around the pics as well as fun scrapbook stuff to add to the pages. Just have fun with this and make it represent who you are....ie: My husband is in the Naval Reserves and I added a little Navy sticker on his page and that interested some bms that we spoke with as they either had family in the military or what have you....Hope this helps...just remeber the more pages you have the more expensive it is to have color copies made.... Hope this helps!!! Amy
  7. Hi Everyone- Sorry I am now just posting. Jeff and I have been very busy...Luckily we had our nursrey completed 3 months ago. We have a precious, beautiful baby girl named Trinity Alexis-Rose Curtis. She was born on 09/07/05 at 7:52 P.M. She weighed 6 lbs 12 oz and 20 in long. She has jet black hair and looks just like her beautiful and sweet BP. Her BP means the world to us and she is such a stong, genuine, and amazing woman. It is incredible how things always have a way of working out when you least expect it to. It has sure been a roller coaster ride, but a BIG thanks goes out to the Abrazo girls for all of their support and guidance. We also want to give a BIG thanks to the Lynch family for everything!!! You better believe that our girl will be wearing OSU gear before she even attends a football, basketall, or baseball game in Stillwater, OK. Although her closet and dresser are full of pink!!! Click on our name orangepower and you will find a pic of Trinity.... She is a doll baby.... Jeff, Amy, & Trinity
