  2. Congratulations on your beautiful little girl!!!
  3. I think that if you open up this topic like the writer for the Indpendence did, then it only leads to the question of the right to parent for all...not just those who are infertile but those who are also fertile. If it can be decided that infertile people shouldn't be able to have children just because they can't conceive the natural way then it brings up the fact that there should be screening of anyone who wants to have a child...just because you are fertile doesn't mean you have the right to parent, right?? Does it work both ways or is this someone's idea of the Survival of the Fittest?
  4. I definately agree Elizabeth! Most birthmoms that I have talked to and even matched with have told me that they chose us based on the pictures. Some even said they just skimmed over the wording so definately put in great pictures that tell your story!

  8. Congratulations to the new family! God bless.
  9. This is actually what my doctor first told us when we initially started suspecting there was a problem. She told us to go have a bottle of wine and hop in the back seat of our car! My husband was instantly sold!! He still mentions this when ever he talks about our journey - he just loves my doctor !
  10. Amen! What always strikes me about comments about either not wanting to tell their children about their adoption or wanting to just wait to tell them, is I often think it is because the adoptive parents are more worried about their own feelings or fears of rejection rather than their childs. Adoption is not all rainbows and sunshine, there is hurt involved, hurt that isn't going to go away because we hide it or ignore it.
  11. Congratulations Kristen & Rich! I loved the family photo in the gallery, and we welcome Mr. Alexander to the world!

  17. Tears of joy are streaming down my face....Congratulations, Lisa, Lance and Kayleigh! And a special prayer goes out to Meg and her family. Brennen is one loved little boy and he couldn't have found a better, more loving set of families.
  18. While Briton's birthmom was pregnant with her she managed to hide her pregnancy from everyone but her husband (and this was even with visiting her family for a whole month the month before Briton was due). The background behind her pregnancy is one of the main reasons she chose to hide her pregnancy, however, I think her main concern was that they would downplay her decision to adopt and convince her to allow them to raise Briton, which isn't what Brandy wanted. Since then Brandy's parents have found out about Briton and fortunately I can say that we have a great relationship with both Brandy and her parents. Briton's birthgrandparents have taken us into their family and have welcomed us into their home. The last time we met we talked about the secrecy, and they even told us about their fears when they found out about Briton. However, our relationship with them has showed that we are not going away. Briton is their grandbaby and as much a part of their family as she is ours. I can't imagine not having the relationship we have with them.
  19. AlliJo is too precious! Congratulations to the new Forever family!
  20. Congratulations to the newest family!!!
  21. That is great news Heather. I know how much you want to start a relationship with Emelie's birthmother so I hope it opens the door for her, you and Emelie. We have always sent Briton's birthmother and her birthgrandma Mother's Day cards and little gifts. I always want them to know how honored we are to be raising Briton and for them to realize that while they might not be here for all the milestones, they are a part of her life and we love them. I wish birthmothers were remembered more and especially on mother's day. People still look at me in amazement when I openly talk about Briton's birthfamily and how much I want them to remain in Briton's life, but it won't stop me. I think adoptive parents are a good source to begin paving the path of educating people on the importance of birthmother day.
