Just as the Halloween treat buckets from the month in which last fall's orientation occurred are sometimes filled with surprises, so is the adoption process! The couple who left our Candy Cornholes (10/16) orientation dinner early to meet a prospective birthmom didn't end up taking that baby home with them (although another family did.) Yet a fortuitous connection through Abrazo's director's high school classmate led them to match with another mother, and now, as a result, they are the proud parents of another beautiful baby boy. They would never have found this case had things not happened the way they did, so we join them in celebrating this happily-ever-after ending.

Congratulations to the newest family of 4!!!

Some of life's sweetest surprises are also the most unexpected ones, and this definitely describes one beloved Abrazo family's reaction to the news that their fourth child's birthmom was having another baby and wanted to place again. They'd thought their family was complete, until they learned that it wasn't, and we couldn't be happier that they said "yes!" Congratulations to the proud parents of our newest baby boy, his new big brother and beautiful big sisters! Blessings, all...

Congratulations to the newest family of 7!!! xXx

  3. I am part of a panel at work next month to discuss adoption and the new benefits that the company I'm working for is implementing next year.

If they allow us to state which agency we used, I will make sure and discuss that y'all are looking for childless couples for orientation weekend.

    Hello all,

My husband and I are new to Abrazo.  We plan on attending the Orientation Weekend next month but have not purchased plane tickets yet.  I was wondering if anyone has anymore information about the weekend and any advice on where to stay, etc.

    Welcome!

When we attended the orientation it was at the Abrazo office. Not too sure if it is still held there. I would ask and then find out if they have any deals with the local hotels close to where the orientation will be held at. They used to have a deal with a couple of local hotels that helped with the rate.

If they do not have any special deals, I would ask the local hotels if they will give a discount. If you tell them why you are there, they are pretty open to giving discounts.

When we went for finalization we stayed at the Home2Suites by Hilton. They waved the parking fees and I believe took off $20 a night. It is always worth asking.

    Good Luck!

    Leah

FYI - Also, be sure to keep all of your receipts for tax reasons.
