  1. The wait, I am certain, was well worth it for all concerned. Congratulations on the newest blessing in your life. Your son's question was adorable.
  2. Congratulations Jen and Jason. Welcome to parenthood.
  3. An Easter blessing to be sure. Congratulations to all.
  4. You MUST have bluebonnet pictures, Susan. Unfortunately, we have been very dry and the bluebonnets aren't as prolific as usual. There is a wildflower farm in Fredricksburg which is wonderful. If you get a chance you may want to check it out. It is sure to have all sorts of wildflower fields. Jean
  5. Same here, Andrea. I was SO pleasantly surprised when I read this thread to hear that Susan, Bill, and Tasia, have traveled to Texas to expand their family. Congratulations!
  6. You are right, Teresa. That is what makes open adoption so cool. A real fit between both families is the goal. Abrazo has an advantage, though. They know the moms that they are working with and their "requirements" and they also know the intake or informal calls they've had with expectant moms and what they are looking for. Because of this, Abrazo knows the families that will be needed for possible future placements and they "shop", if you will, for a pool of potential adoptive parents that will fill the bill. I hope this is coming out right. In the end, I believe every family will place if they stay the course. Not if, but when. The perspectives that you have are very positive and right on. You never know when you'll receive the call that changes your life forever!
  7. Congratulations to the Gross family and their new son plus his sweet first mama, too. I'm so excited for you all.
  8. Congratulations to the newest Abrazo family. Perhaps now the wait becomes insignificant and the reasons clearer. Praise God for happy beginnings!
  9. You are exactly right, Penny. I was 42 when I brought Nathan home. Yes, I'm tired and probably not as active as I would have been at 22 or even 32, but I am exactly where God wanted me to be to parent Nathan. And the same is true for you and Curtis.
  10. I have goosebumps after searching for and reading Elizabeth's description of the formation of the newest Abrazo family. Blessings from above. God bless you and resounding congratulations!
  11. The birthmother/birthfamily that views the profile you could potentially create may LOVE turtles. Hang on to the turtle and the cats. Abrazo does need to know that the home is safe and that the pets are up to date on their vacinations. Not to worry. Abrazo asks about everything because they want the best for the babies they place. Carry on, Alicia!
  12. Congratulations to Baby Heath Michael and Mommy Linda, Daddy Guy and Heath's first family. Blessings to all of you. Joy is felt around a chilly country today as this adoption journey becomes a family's new beginning. I am certain there are special people who will not even feel the chill as love and gratitude warm their souls.
  13. Sandi, Thank you for taking time to post. Your thoughts about "who would have ever thought.......' stuck out. I know that sometimes contact history is not what one would like, but this just goes to show that your dilligence and honor to your promises made to Aimee at placement of Skye have nurtured and grown your extended family relationship. I know this example will serve as hope and encouragement to many families who have not had the type of contact they hope(d) for. Stay true to your promises. Heartfelt congratulations to the entire family! Jean
  14. That's a really good question Waiting for a miracle. Most of the profiles I've seen all said, Dear Birthmother. THere is a book by that title, too. Dear Expectant Mother.........Dear Friend.......................Dear ??? Any ideas?
  15. Congratulations to Maury, Debra and their precious children.
  16. Happy and heartfelt congratulations to the newest Abrazo parents. God does have a plan and keeps you on your toes because it is in His time and His way. Bless Jayson's birthmom for the love and selflessness she has demonstrated by placing her precious son in Ben and Lisa's able, loving care. What a glorious event in a season where family and thankfulness are paramount. Congratulations all.
  17. Susan is right. This is one story I've tracked very closely and I, too have been checking frequently for any news or tidbit about one very amazing birthmother, a son who's sure to be too precious for words, and the two loving people who hope to call him their son, too. And here it is. Ellen, please know that we admire your courage and strength. Also know that you can count on us as a sounding board or whatever it is you need. Baby boy, you have no idea how many people already adore you. Your first mom was generous enough to let us have a peek into your lives and we immediately fell in love with her as well as you. Jen and Amos, hearty congratulations on the realization of heart felt dream. Adoption and parenthood will take you places you never even knew existed. It will bless your hearts with a range of emotions and a beautiful community, if you avail yourselves of it. I am so happy for everyone in this triad. God certainly is good all of the time!
  18. Surely a match made in heaven! And I'm sure Tristan is looking down in awe of his aunt, uncle, and baby Collin. Joy in the midst of sadness. Adoption and then some. Thank goodness for baby boys! Congratulations to everyone.
  19. What a precious blessing. Welcome to the world little one, welcome to the wonderful world of parenthood, Suzi and Ben. Welcome to open adoption and blessings to the brave birthmom of the precious little one who is loved by all.
  20. Botox for foot odor? That's a new one. The article referred to the child as being special needs. Does anyone know what they are referring to here? It's an interesting world we live in, isn't it? Joely and Chris were inspired by Angelina Jolie and Madonna’s decisions to adopt a baby from Africa,” a family friend tells the mag. “But after looking into the adoption process, they realized there were so many children in the L.A. area who needed homes.” (Joely visited with children in Mozambique in August.) Uh, yah! They get it. Kudos to them!
  21. I am so sorry for your loss, Glenn and all those who knew and loved Priscilla. There really are no words.......
  22. What a glorious post, DarrylnNicole! Your faith and joy shines through and through. I am so pleased that you are now members of the Abrazo family and look forward to hearing all about your family and possibly meeting you next year at camp. Blessings be to all who believe and have faith. Congratulations.
  23. I have goosebumps. This is the Abrazo way. Congratulations to the new family and all the proud and happy parents. May God continue to bless your new family.
  24. Congratulations to the newest mommy and daddy and the amazingly courageous birthmom and birthstepgrandma who will love and care for baby Jack together throughout his wonderful life.
