After a few technical difficulties, we found the forum. Now how do we add friends........

You just click onto different people's icons and choose "add as friend." This doesn't work like Facebook, though. There's no news feed. You get everybody's posts to everything. On the main forum page, you can see the "view new content" button in the top-right(ish). That will keep you up to date on things from day to day.
